::Honestly the place is pretty bad. First of all it’s pretty pricey for what the place has to offer. Props first, the view from the rooftop pool is great, and the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, plus Dallas is great city. The bad and there’s a lot, the parking is abysmal. There maybe 50 spots? Everything is overflow, which means across the street. The pool is tiny, like 8 couples max can comfortably fit in the pool. They hosted a pool party during our stay and it was way too many people for what was basically an apartment pool with a view. The security and the bar staff was super nice and professional. The bar prices were extraordinarily. The room themselves are fine. They’re are beautifully decorated but lack basics like a microwave and closable bath door. The final straw was that during a rain storm, rain was seeping into the room and over the floors. Y’all find a cheap place and plan to head to a nice bar, pool and restaurant. No point in paying 350+ for a place that any motel can offer besides the view. Again if you’re forced to stay here, the staff is super cool and understanding.

::check in was super easy! Valet was quick! rooms are pretty small for the nightly price but the bed was so so so cozy. the rooftop pool - the bars - the art work are on point. definitely an aesthetic type of hotel. probably wouldn’t bring kids to stay here more of a late night city party vibe but that’s just me. the bartender Erica Gonzalez made us feel so welcome when we had lunch at the downstairs bar one morning. she was excellent.

::Best hotel experience in awhile. We arrived on Friday and was greeted by Jacob who was working the Front desk, checked in fast and answered our questions. Awesome honeymoon set up! Went downstairs and got some food at the bar which was amazing. We stayed for the week of Christmas which had some issues getting food because the hotel was kitchen was closed, but Jacob was there with awesome advice and found us a place to eat. He also had some great idea about making sandwiches and easily reheated foods for days like this that the hotel should look into. Jacob, Alyssa, Logan, and the upstairs crew were really awesome and full of knowledge and helpful. It made our stay amazing along with those beautiful views.

::I purchased a last minute "Romance Package" at 12 pm directly on the Canvas Hotel reservation site for arrival later that same evening. My understanding of the package, as described on the website and by an employee when I called just prior to booking was that we would have chocolate covered strawberries, champagne, and rose petals ready in the room. Upon check in around 5 pm, Jacob made no mention of the additional purchased accommodations, and I thought nothing of it since that is typical in other hotels when I've booked similar packages - no mention at check in and you're greeted by a pleasant surprise upon walking into the room. I was disappointed to walk into the room and see that nothing was set up, but figured, that's ok, I booked last minute, I'll just request a refund for the experience surcharge after our stay. When Jacob sent the welcome text message to check on how our room was, I replied with "Thanks for reaching out. I booked the package that was supposed to include champagne, chocolate strawberries, etc. None of which were in the room. How do I go about [getting] a refund for that piece?" Jacob responded with, "It's on it's way up. You booked at noon today, so we really didn't have a day's notice to properly set up." While I can appreciate the attempt at remedying the situation, in reality, the gesture came off as an afterthought only once I'd pointed out the problem. Ultimately, my real issue with this approach is that I paid for an *experience*. Instead I received marked up room service that interrupted our evening with room temperature champagne that retails for $7 on a good day and a slice of cheesecake off the menu. The welcome experience definitely tinged the rest of our stay and yet, I am not entirely soured at the idea of giving the Canvas Hotel another shot in the future as the facility is beautiful and well located and the drinks were phenomenal. My husband and I began envisioning what the rooftop would be like in the warmer months. However, I expect hotel management to reevaluate their approach to situations like this as well as the reasoning for availability of packages on the website given the known limitation of staff to set up experiences properly within short time frames.

::We loved or stay here! The rooms are spacious and very cute. The beds were very comfortable. We loved the charm of the building and the hotel decor. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. We did not make it up to the rooftop bar but we will be staying here again and will be sure to stop by! Absolutely no complaints.
