    Unless you have a wellness check-up scheduled, don't have any expectation to see a doctor if your child is sick. I called first thing in the morning and was told I would be contacted regarding an appointment within an hour. They finally called back 3 hours later just to tell me to go to an urgent care. I wish I could say that this was an isolated incident, but unfortunately this seems to be the new norm as this has happened consistently over the last couple of years. I don't understand how U of M has the reputation they do when it is impossible to see a doctor when you need to the most. Even during wellness visits, when issues are brought up to the doctor, they are dismissed. No tests are ever run and their is never any follow-up. We are always told to give Tylenol and keep an eye on it. In that case, you might as well save yourself the expense of a medical bill and treat your symptoms yourself, or find a network with doctors who actually want to help vs. this place who are more concerned about making money.

    I go here for myself (ob) and my son (pediatrician) I love the quality of care I receive when I go. I recently had a very disheartening test result but my doctor called me listened to my concerns and made sure she checked on me the next day to make sure I was ok and to double check our health plan for the next few weeks. She recognized I was upset and made sure to talk the next day when I was more clear headed and she was just as sympathetic and caring the second day as the first. Makes it so much easier to trust your doctor when you know they truly care about you and your care. UPDATE - trying to get an appointment with your doctor is like jumping through hoops. You cannot even get on the books without calling, sitting on hold, speaking to scheduling, be told you have to speak to a nurse, wait for a nurse, speak to the nurse, find out you need an appointment, then wait for them to find time and date for your appointment. I DONT WANT TO SPEAK TO A NURSE I WANT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I should have the option to decline to speak with a nurse and just schedule the appointment. It's gross that this facility that I referred everyone to just 3 years ago is at the point I have been dealing with health issues to the point they've HOSPITALIZED ME instead of jumping through the hoops to get an appointment. It's all incredibly irresponsible and feels like a lack of care and liability issue. I don't call to speak to a nurse I call to make an appointment to speak to a doctor.

    It's NIGHTMARES to make an appointment for a child. You call sit on hold after listening to all the prompts about what to do if you have COVID. Then you ask to make an appointment and they ask why. If you say ANYTHING other than a well child or physical you have to sit on hold and wait for a nurse to talk to you about why you want the appointment. They determine if it's an emergency or not and then book your appointment. I'm so over having to have a phone appointment with a nurse that I don't even want to do to speak to a doctor about my kiddo. They should offer an option to speak with the nurse not mandate it. It's unnecessary and annoying. The phonecall itself shouldn't take 30+ if you're lucky to call when there's no wait. So carve out an hour of your day today to make an appointment for 3 months from now 🙄 Seriously switching my entire family from u of m the quality of care and ability to get concerns addressed by a DOCTOR not A NURSE on a phone call has seriously deteriorated. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I can gaurentee people have falled through the cracks because of these insane policies.

    My doctor who I loved moved out of Michigan, so unfortunately, I was assigned a new doc in the same practice (internal medicine), which was scheduled several months out. I had an appointment in mid-Feb which I had to reschedule due to work issues and was told she has nothing else until DECEMBER. Really?? A doctor is booked solid for 10 months for a current patient? It's ridiculous and I've always had good luck with other U of M doctors, but not at the Canton Health Center. I'm going back to IHA after this.

    Wait times are ridiculous! After waiting over an hour to speak to someone they recommended I take my child to an urgent care. This is the new norm for them after Covid.
