  Canter's is legendary. It doesn't need my review. Pastrami was tender and delicious. Knishes were fabulous - just like on the beach in Coney Island. Hot dogs were lovely and sliced almost in half the way my mother used to cook them for me. Canters is beautiful. That's all. 5 stars just for the excellence of the comfort it gives.

  Classic LA scene. Great food, great baked goods. Also has a lot of history: Guns 'n Roses used to come here a lot. This place is just about as good as a classic diner gets.

  I love Canter's because it has been there my entire life. Visiting my Bubbe in L.A. always meant Bagels, cream cheese, lox and smoked(BBQ) Cod. The Cod fish had disappeared from the menu but, everything else remains the same. Wonderful atmosphere always, blintz, matzo ball soup, the friendliest servers ever make this a place I will go to as long as it exists. My only sadness is the most delicious fish I've ever tasted will forever be a memory. I miss you BBQ Cod! Your neon orange outside covering the whitest fish meat I've ever seen that truly melted in my mouth. Even the occasional bone wouldn't deter my pleasure of eating you. My mission in life will be to recreate you! How hard can it be? An Asian BBQ pork ribs recipe may be the key? Sorry, Canter's is the best and they even have a parking lot on Fairfax!

  Huge place. I was prepared for the deli counter but not the diner and bar in the back. I had a great time here. Our waitress was so kind and helpful. Her name tag said Cupcake. So cute. Anyway she helped us out with recommendations and I got the Monte Cristo. Perfect comfort food. After the food we headed over to the little bar in the back and listened to live music for a bit. Great experience. I will definitely be going back.

  Condolences are in order for one of the finest Los Angeles families....who helped shape the face of "The Western Deli." R.I.P. Gary... Peace be with you Jackie... Generous to always be there with beautiful food trays...donated for Police/Community meetings when needed. The Canters have kept this multi-generational restaurant on the top 10 list of L.A. 's finest for over half-a-century. No small feat! Best matzaball chicken soup ever! Anywhere! Watch for new hours... Open 24 hours on week-ends only. On my top 10 list!
