::No-one around in late november but because the leaves are off the trees one can hear the LIE a mile to the south. The trail takes one past the north end of Sandy Pond (which was very low in the summer but is now almost full again) then to Fox Pond. There is an overgrown spur which leads to Line Rd, and were this cleared again there would be a great circular walk (approx 3 miles) with the last part over Line Rd and Old River Rd (the latter being one of the prettiest, least-traveled roads on Long Island). There's also a short circular offshoot which goes round a smaller, unnamed pond to the east of Sandy Pond (to which it's joined by a near-collapsed iron culvert). In summer the paths have lots of ticks of course. But altogether a very pretty place, especially when the water lilies are blooming.
