  I visited this place pretty recently for the first time in my life. I used to go to different Russian restaurants in brooklyn when I used to live there, but because I moved to staten island I did try this one. I can say that interior of this place looks pretty good with nice small stage, plenty of space to put tables, dancing spot, private room, and great lighting. I can also say that it is very clean. We did celebrate my friend’s birthday and ordered one of five available banquets. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Table was almost ready with just addition of some salads, bread, and drinks. Lets talk about food: we got cold cuts of 3 different verities (5 star), fish of 3 different varieties (5 star), avocado salad (5 star), “gourmand” salad (5 star), eggplant roles (5 star), tomatoes with mozzarella (5 star), salty staff like tomatoes, pickles, and so on (5 star). Hot dishes: potato with mushrooms (great, but mushrooms were salty), samsa (great), manti (great, but only one per person), uzbekian piloff (did not like this - too much fat and rice is not cooked well), pasta with seafood (great, but pasta was not cooked well), shish kebab (great). Sweets: fruits (great), pastries (tubes filled with cream - great). Drinks: we got sparkled water, cranberry juice ( you can choose any orange, pineapple), coffee, and tea. They only drawback they do not have kompot even though it is in menu. Music and dancing: 3 STAR because it is kind of boring. Their singer is a young guy singing pretty well, but he does not know much about how to bring a Russian person to dance like hell and make any evening into nice dancing battle. He did sing many american songs where people tried to dance, but without any enthusiasm. I want to say that if he changes his program it will be great. Staff: waitresses are pretty good and taking care of everything you require amazingly. They are very polite as well. Thank for reading this review.

  Café Gourmand hosted our daughter’s Bat-Mitzvah celebration. They accommodated our relatively small party in their main space and substituted items on the menu without hesitation. The Banquet Manager (Elena) went out of her way to alleviate all stress associated with the event of this kind. She listened to our requests and worked tirelessly to fulfill our vision to create a beautiful space that truly impressed our guests. Everything, from the candles and flowers to sweet table was done with lots of attention to detail. We were also very impressed with the DJ and the photographer that she recommended. The food was abundant, beautifully presented and, most of all, absolutely delicious. We are very thankful to Elena and the entire team of Cafe Gourmand for making our party a success!
