::I have never had a worse expirience renting a car. At first they did not have the car that was agreed over the phone. The second car they gave me smelled like cigarettes. Then when I returned the third car in excellent condition the Manger told me I need to have it washed or she would charge me $250 dollars. I asked her to show me what areas were dirty but she refused and threatened me with the $250 fee. I told her that other rental companies like enterprise treat their customers better and do not require customers to clean the car prior to returning it her reply was that I should have rented from enterprise. So I suggest you rent from Enterprise right up the road on Northern Blvd next to the "American Car Wash"

::I have rented cars all over the country and never had a worse experience then this rental car office only a couple of miles from my home. I called the office directly to make a reservation and told them that I would need to pick the small SUV up when they opened Friday morning and would return it that evening if they had a drop box or 1st thing when they opened the following day. No drop box so the next day was my only option. I was quoted a rate and given a reservation number. I got to the Avis/Budget office at 7:30 which is their posted opening time. At 7:45 the office finally opened, when I gave my reservation number I was told that the vehicle was scheduled for 10:00am pick in their system and that if I wanted to take the vehicle at the opening I would be charged for 2 days because the office didn't open until 9:00 on Saturday. Talk about a bait and switch. The price for the extra day didn't double the rate but rather increased it 2.5 times. Does this make sense? I'm suppose to pay for an additional day, 2.5 times as much as the original reservation because the shop doesn't open at the same time every day and I physically can't bring the car back any sooner. I called the 800 number for Avis, turns out it's a budget Rental, so after 5 min. of trying to figure out why they didn't have my reservation number, I had to dial Budget. Hey front desk guy with only one customer standing in front of you, ya think you might have mentioned that? Ok dial Budget but was told if I wanted the car that was my only option. I didn't take the car because I felt I was being swindled. Hey Roslyn office here is a suggestion on how to improve your business. 1) How about opening on time 2) You should train your staff on how to override the computer to avoid this kind of fraudulent business practice or open the office at 7:30 every day of the week. 3) Your staff isn't friendly or helpful I felt like both the office person and the person at the 800 number wasn't concerned at all with my problem. 4) I called the local phone number for Avis but was booked through Budget for some reason. When someone calls you office and they make a reservation you should explain which company they are booking through. This confusion meant I had to stand in your lobby and call 2 different 800 number. I finally left the office without a car, frustrated, annoyed and having to change my plans for work. Finally, I rent cars near my house 3 or 4 times a year, 2 to 3 times a year on the road and my out of town guest also rent local a couple of time a year. You've lost several thousand dollars of life time value. Thanks for the terrible experience.

::I'm giving a five-star review because of the above-and-beyond service I received from this Budget office, and specifically from one of the employees, Kevin. I was stranded in Maine (my flight had been canceled) and urgently needed to get back home to Long Island for a parent whose health was rapidly deteriorating. After striking out with both the Bangor Budget office from whom I'd rented the car and Budget's main 800 number, on a lark I contacted my intended destination, the Roslyn Budget office. To my amazement, Kevin took a personal interest in my dilemma and came up with a creative solution. (It had to be creative, as I couldn't drop off the car during regular business hours.) After this kind of service, I feel indebted to the Roslyn Budget office and to Kevin. Many thanks!
