  The Buckman Clinic, operated by the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in Brentwood NY, is the epitome of everything wrong & dire with the Mental Health Care system in the United States. The clinic's ground are a grim weary scene filled with the despair ravaged with mental illness, and unfortunately the administration seem bothered by their very own responsibility to have to care for these folks. The therapist (regardless if LCSW or Psychologist) are apathetic, and a few see the clinic merely as a stepping stone to go on and work at a better clinic; a place to fatten one's résumé if you will, this is an inclination of the vested interest a therapist may have at Buckman and the clients. -For the exception of those too mentally ill to understand the maltreatment and transgression that occur everyone seems deign to a future, a life, less than what they are capable of having. Perhaps if state funding for Pilgrim Psychiatric Center (this would include Buckman) was larger, it could be afforded to put in place a competent & adequate administration & staff. If this is an impossibility then it must be shut down for they do more harm than good. Good luck to anyone whose future holds Buckman, it won't be easy, in fact, you may find it a horrifying, soul-crushing experience. post script: Violence does occur at Buckman, the patients are left to run the asylum.
