  My elderly parent was brought to the emergency room for pain around a preexisting hernia. The neglect in the emergency room was horrifying. By day two and a half, still in the emergency room my parent had an upper respiratory infection, with wheazing and a severe cough. A day later a severe case of pink eye also developed. My parent was supposed to be on a liquid diet by day two and a half and I was told that there was nobody who could feed my parent (who was not on an iv and too weak to hold a juice container). I could go on about drugs that were administered for anxiety which were causing side effects of hallucinations, body thrashing and screaming. It was a TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!
