  Box Kite Coffee is a tiny spot on the Upper West side with some really great espresso. Service is always really quick and the drinks have always been consistently awesome.

  To say the owner is rude is to say nothing. I asked what vegan option of milk they have without extra charge (a cup of coffee already costs over $6), he replied it's only oat milk for extra .75 because "vegan milk is 6 times more expensive than the regular", what kind of regural milk he uses?! And my vegan friends let's all together ban those places and greedy owners who try to make money on people's ethical believes and support meat industry.

  Box Kite is undoubtedly one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. If I lived or worked closer I would come far more often! Although the space is quite minimal, it's because nearly everything about Box Kite is focused on the coffee. That's the reason you're there; not to gawk at gratuitously trendy styling, have a place to be seen, or enjoy an avocado toast (delicious as they might be). It's the coffee! Everything is dialed in with care and the baristas know what they're doing 100%, actively experimenting while they're at it. You can have a chat and it's wonderful. Always interesting roasters as well, I love it. Box Kite could be construed as an upper west side caffeine fix, but it's far more. Go for the coffee, and also come back for the coffee!

  Fantastic coffee. Great espresso drinks, friendly service, usually cool music. A little tiny "hole in the wall" place, so not much space to sit... however, they serve one of the best coffee in the city. Definitely the best on the Upper West Side. Enjoy!
