::Boreal Traditions is one of the best places in Anchorage to purchase high quality Alaskan art. The gallery represents native artisans and local artisans (about 50:50 mix between the two), with whom they have long standing relationships. The owners (brother and sister), purchased the shop about 30 years ago and made an agreement with the prior gallery owner to continue to sell some crystal pieces. That's why you will notice some sparkle on the shelves, between the natural stone, wood and bronze works of art. It's odd, but it works. The artwork includes sculpture, painting, baskets, masks, jewelry, and more from throughout Alaska. They also ship everywhere, except where restricted by import/export regulations. Even if you aren't ready to make a purchase, this shop is one of the best places in the area to browse the incredible selection of artwork crafted from natural materials and demonstrating Alaska's fine art heritage.

::Incredibly beautiful artwork, mainly carvings of native Alaskan animals by native Alaskans. Even if you don't buy anything just looking at the sculptures is fun.

::Their stuff is beautiful, but the hours are not posted on the door. I went there twice and they were closed both times. Booo.
