Cluttered. Stuffy. Smells like old books. Owner doesn't know everything he has there and you have to spend time digging. Exactly what I love about used and rare book stores. The owner is a little grumpy if you are not there to buy, sell or trade something. And that is totally fine with me. This is not a tourist shop, it's for an old book collector (or a young one). I brought a bunch from my own collection here and he helped me wrap them for storage and had some good ideas for me on finding display cases.

I never post reviews, but after seeing all the negative reviews of this place I feel like I have to. This is hands down my favorite book store. Every time I've gone, I've walked out with a great find. I get what people are saying about the owner, he's a little abrasive, but I find that it adds to the charm of the place. Not to mention he's actually a nice guy once you really talk to him. He's passionate about his store and he's super knowledgeable when it comes to literature. Also, he can find ANYTHING in a store that seems impossible to find things. He literally knows where every single subject or genre is located among the stacks. Some of his prices are a little high, but he's not unwilling to haggle a bit.

This place is pretty horrible. I could write a lot more but it’s not worth it. Just don’t go there. You’ve been warned.

I've seen lots of negative reviews mostly centered on the owner's behavior, but I have always found this place to be excellent. The owner is direct in asking about whether you're serious about book buying, and offers help with finding the topic you're looking for. He is clearly necessary for finding things, as the store is over full. But he's also VERY knowledgeable, and if you're a serious book collector this place and this owner is a gem. But, if you're just browsing and don't like direct questions, you'll be unhappy.

Yes, the prices are high but he has some books you might not easily find elsewhere. If you are cordial to him and converse he'll be the same back. In fact, the first time I went there I was so impressed that I brought my mother and sister back shortly afterwards.
