Berwen Contracting was who I selected to perform the renovation on my house in Queens. I needed a new kitchen, bath, lighting, flooring and doors. After talking with a few other contractors, I felt Barrett and his crew would be the team that I would work best with. The ideas he provided and the easy way he communicated with me was what made this the right choice. It was clear from the start that he is passionate about his work and that passion would translate into my renovation. Throughout the entire process (which lasted the exact amount of time he had estimated) he kept me apprised of the progress. If we ran into unforeseen issues, Barrett always had several solutions that kept my style and budget in mind. He even went as far as to custom make a reclaimed wood pantry door for my kitchen. I can't say enough about Barrett and his team. They are all so professional, great at what they do, and take tremendous pride in their work. I wouldn't hesitate to use Berwen Contracting again or to recommend them.

Do NOT hire this company or do so at your own peril. We recently hired them to install a 2 panel glass shower door. The installer & owner of the company, Barrett Gold, after installing one of the panels, dropped the other panel on the floor causing the glass to shatter into a thousand pieces. He apologized profusely saying the panel had just slipped out of his hands, claiming that this had not happened to him in a long time & promised to order a new panel immediately & install it asap. When he left my wife and I, although obviously disappointed, felt assured that this fellow would make good on his word. He seemed genuinely apologetic & sincere in making this right. The following day , however, I received a very disturbing email stating that he now discovered that the panel was 1/8" too long --- he had called the glass fabricating company falsely using my name in order to obtain info on the panel--- In his email he then stated that he " discovered" a 1/8" mistake in measurement & that he was now saying that it was the reason why he dropped the panel and would return only if I paid him his originally agreed upon fee of $625 plus an additional $1995 to install the new glass!!! He never took any responsibility for measuring the glass BEFORE doing the installation to see if in fact there was any discrepancy in measurement as any professional would do. His tone & demeanor completely changed the day after the accident in writing me this almost confrontational email. I later learned from the fabricator that there is a 1/2" leeway in measurement with this product, the Serenity Shower Door, so even if there was a 1/8 " discrepancy it could be tolerated upon installation & certainly would have no bearing on dropping it. So, I hope that my tale of woe can help in case anyone is thinking of hiring this company. If so, you are certainly putting yourself at risk!

Great company! They took great care and pride in their work. I first had them replace a broken toilet, which I needed done quickly. They came out on the weekend and had it installed in hour or so. I called them back to replace two attic windows, which were leaking, and again, they responded quickly and replaced them. They are very competitive in price but more knowledgeable than other contractors that I have had in the past. They didn't try pushing me into a particular product and actually guided me thru each on its warrantee and consumer ratings. I will have them back to remodel my bathroom!!!
