  The Battery is the new name of Battery Park. I suggest avoiding the area unless you absolutely must get a ferry to the statue of liberty, or Staton island. There are very annoying people trying to sell you tours all over the place. Very rude too. When I ignored one guy, he started harassing my wife because she is on crutches, he started asking her at the top of his voice if I had done that to her. Guess he did not like being ignored.

  The Battery offers a view of the city's past.
