No veterans discount, two week limit on stays. Why do residents need a discount?

We have been full timers for three years. Worst experience ever. Cathy, the park supervisor, is the rude "gatekeeper". She does not like to be questioned. They have a two week rule on stays. We were told she was the only one that could make an exception to her rule. She would not do that for us. She made the exception for 3 of our rv neighbors though. She tried giving me a Hurricane Sandy story and medical emergency story. Lie...all three of these couples are here working....just like us. This park is empty...it's November. When I mentioned coming back she told me the park may be closed for road work. We will not return even though it is 10 miles from work! We would rather make the 100+ mile commute! I'm missing the southern hospitality I'm used to. UGH!

At first, I was extremely skeptical about reserving a spot at Battle Row Campground in Old Bethpage. But boy...let me tell you, I was wrong about what I thought. Firstly, Battle Row Campground, as opposed to the other negative reviews is a beautiful park! The grounds are kept neat and if there's an issue, the staff will come and fix it almost immediately (during office hours of 9am to 5pm of course). There was one site that we witnessed that needed some help on our first night here. The next morning, we saw a Nassau County pickup truck pull up in front of the site. The guy hopped out with a broom, shovel and rake and started clearing the dirt off the site and cleaning out the grill, something I personally appreciated. We were sitting outside enjoying the sunny day, and he came over and asked us if he was creating too much noise from the preparing of the pad. We had a nice conversation about the campground, and he was truly a genuinely friendly person. While on the topic of friendly staff, we booked our reservation over the phone about two weeks prior to the date we arrived, and spoke to Frank. He was extremely polite over the phone, constantly referred to me as "Sir" and was respectful of our wishes and requests. We later found out that Frank was the same one going around the campground improving and up-keeping the sites and making them better every time for the next camper. That is what I call true guest service. When we came into the office on the day of our reservation, we spoke to a sweet woman behind the desk named Cathy. She met our every need and explained the rules politely, and non-aggressively like some other campgrounds do. They provided us with a cute little map of the campground and gave us a small little paper to remember the rules by. As far as safety goes, I am very impressed. Many of my friends and fellow campers ask if this place is safe, being that the gates are always open. Let me tell you, this was the safest we've felt at a campground...and we've even stayed at one with nighttime security guards and staff with closed gates. The other campers who were there helped us out and they all watch out for each other. It's a real sense of community, even if you've only just met the people. Not to mention, while we were staying there, we saw an employee come back at night on their own time to make sure everything was locked up and safe, a Nassau County Public Security car drive around, and even Nassau County Police Officers. This is possibly the safest place you could be in my opinion. The playground is a perfect spot for the kids, and even the horseshoe pits have looked like they were recently renovated and weeded from the last time our friends stayed here. We didn't get a chance to borrow any horseshoes this time around, but next time we definitely are going to! Bathrooms and showers are nice and clean. Including the bathrooms, they always have been fully stocked with toilet paper, something other campgrounds cannot seem to get down properly. In conclusion, the staff is beyond friendly and considerate, they will help you with whatever you may need. The campground itself is truly beautiful and secluded in some spots for a true camping experience. The utilities are managed and maintained. Whether you're into tenting or you have an RV, you will not be disappointed with Battle Row Campground. I personally recommend it.

This is run by the county governor Nassau. Most of all RV parks in Long Island are run by the County Government and they only allow you to stay two or three weeks. I was working at a local hospital for four months and they allowed me to stay there the entire length of the stay. My only issue was there was no sewer hookups so I had to no my trailer to the dump station every week or more

OK, it isn't a sprawling, state park campground, but it's close to NYC, so it's very convenient, it's wooded, AND it's quiet/peaceful. The bathhouse with flush toilets, sinks, soap, and mirrors, was clean, as were the showers. The people running the place are so very nice and welcoming. I called Frank from my home in Michigan and he helped me get my spot booked for the days I needed it, which relieved a lot of the stress I was feeling about where I was going to stay while working in the city. I was able to enjoy coffee made with my french press each of the mornings I woke here, from my picnic table, in the fairly private space in the woods that was my camp spot. So very pleasant! (Keep in mind I was not in an RV, but rather tent camping.) The price was very affordable, especially considering the prices of decent hotels and AirBnB spaces that I researched as I was planning my trip. Thank you Battle Row staff! :) I would happily stay here whenever my work requires a trip to NYC or Long Island.
