  Park has improved a lot since the mid-1980's. Used to always be dirty and a gang hangout. Was shocked to see the transformation it has gone through.

  I have been going to this beautiful park ever since I was a kid and I was raised in Wilmington Ca. and my parents always took me here to play when I was a kid. It is indeed a beautiful and nice big park to just relax and enjoy as well as to play in and they also have a recreation center as well as the Banning Residence museum and Please take the museum in it will tell all about the history of Wilmington and how it started and all about Phineas Banning the father of the harbor. and also the history of the Banning mansion/ museum. you will have a great day and really get educated on the history of how Wilmington got started when you take in the museum. So please I highly recommend going to Banning park for a day as well as taking in the Banning Residence museum along with the family. You will indeed have a wonderful day and bring a picnic lunch, and also there is a McDonald's fast food place right next door to the park on Pacific Coast Highway Hope you enjoy Banning Park.
