  AVOID THIS BANK--unless inconvenience is your thing. Bank of the West will constantly thwart your transactions and hold your accounts when you do online banking. I'm a student at Berkeley. I rate 2 stars because the staff in the bank and on the phone were patient and kind. But I'd never recommend a bank that recently put my bank account on hold just because I scheduled a transfer and then decided to cancel it. The app told me to call the customer service, which then passed the buck to the branch. This isn't my first such visit. Also, sending money using Zelle was unreasonably slow (for days), and not always successful. Seek another bank if you want less trouble. --update: another hold after I settled up with my friends for a few times via Zelle. This bank does nothing other than baffling your normal transactions.

  They are actually very nice! I had an account 3years ago but can’t find the card and came to look it up. It is a of trouble but they are very patient and helpful.

  TERRIBLE BANK AND SERVICE. I went numerous times because they 1) got my name wrong, 2) lost my application, and 3) didn't give any instructions for online banking. The bank itself is horrible, their service was constantly unavailable. The banking assistants are nice people but don't really know how to do their job. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BOW AT ALL.

  Worst bank experience ever. Told account opening would take 2 hours took 2.5 days. Debit card took over 2 weeks to arrive they don't issue them on the spot. Made it clear I needed to pick it up as moving house, they assure me it would wait there for me to pick up. I moved house and changed my address with them. Went back in to confirm if it was ready for pick up, still not ready. Came back again and turns out they sent it in the end and to the wrong address. Always massive line and the staff are slow. Did not explain anything about the account or how to set up online banking etc. Terrible

  I had to come 4 times in order to open a checking account. I'm international, so I understand that the first time I didn't come with proper documentation. The second time I came, they lost my application...The third time they requested my SSN for verification purposes which they could have asked earlier. I wasn't able to deposit money in the account for some reason, so I had to come a fourth time. At my fourth visit, I tried to deposit money. They requested my account number but I don't have it since no one ever printed it out for me! Is a customer supposed to ask these pertinent information themselves? A girl looked up my number and scrawled it on a piece of paper illegibly, prompting me to wait even longer so I can request a proper document with my information. I was dumbfounded when a bank teller wrote it by hand - I assumed most important transactions are conducted in print.. Did I mention that the debit card came with my name spelled incorrectly? And this is after all that verification, and copies of my identification documents.. Avoid this place unless you absolutely have to - it's not worth the hassle and waste of time. EDIT: The bank sent me a corrected card. It was dated a few days after the first card.
