Attended this school and I would highly recommend you consider your other options before choosing this school. Aveda's rap is not all that it is cracked up to be - trust me. You are on your own attending the Cosmo program at Aveda. Most of the teachers are more wrapped up in their own drama and politics than to have time or energy to encourage you through your education. The instructors do the bare minimum and no more and that is because the Cosmo program is too big for its own good and the instructors are stretched too thin. They do not hide this fact and you will hear the teachers complain about it at least once a day during day-to-day lessons. I will end with saying that I finished my education at Hastings Beauty school and learned more in the last month there than I did all year at Aveda. Not to mention wasn't just a number and another paycheck to that institution. I mattered at Hastings and they made sure I knew that. Look at your other options and really consider them instead of just picking Aveda for the name and rap, as you will find you are sorely mistaken. One last note- you will save money choosing another school. Aveda is the most expensive because they can be. Really unfortunate.

We go here at least once a year depending on what we need done. I love getting my full foil highlights as well as,my daughter. My other daughter always does something different and really likes it each time. The prices can't be beat but you do. get what you pay for which means they are students, they are learning And it takes time. My highlights took about 3 hours and my daughter's over 4 so be prepared to spend your whole morning or afternoon at the salon. I would love to try ax massage or facial sometime. Definite recommend and will be back.

Don't waste your time....Would go there, but they are impossible to book an appointment. Their website allows you to "request" an appointment - but that's a misnomer, as there are restrictions on being able to actually book (they only let you book 6 weeks out but you have to call and actually talk to someone to make an appointment). Those who call to "confirm" an appointment aren't much help. It took two different people to actually be able to explain the policy, as one girl couldn't get past the "ums" and "likes" to put together a clear sentence. If you don't book the day any of the spa appointments become available (take your current day and add 6 weeks and that's what's available) you won't get one. I've tried a few times to get appointments but have never had any luck, but I guess you have to call within a day or two 6 weeks in advance and hope they are not booked up. The request for service then online doesn't mean anything as the girls who call to "confirm" your appointment tell you "sorry our books aren't open that far and you need to call back 6 weeks out." Despite having the ability to "request" service online, it's your responsibility to call exactly 6 weeks out to the day, hoping that you actually get someone on the line, and also someone on the line who is competent. Oh well, there are plenty of other places in the Twin Cities to get services, this place is not worth the hassle of having to figure out the exact moment to call to make an appointment...it's supposed to be a relaxing day at the spa, not rocket science.

I love Aveda beauty school. I’ve had numerous appointments there for haircuts, color, highlights and waxing. The students have always been friendly and respectful, professional, and I feel confident that I’ll get what I want. I like the instructors as well and the suggestions they have for the students. They are really good at checking the cut and giving a final touch if needed. I highly recommend services there.

I’ve been going to Aveda since 2009 for relaxers and I have enjoyed the service I get there. The students are well trained and attentive to the needs of their clients. Kathy and Sandra, the instructors are caring to both the students and clients. I have the peace of mind of knowing that with the guidance of experienced instructors, the students give me top notch service. I always look forward to going back to Aveda.
