::Our experience with the pediatric services have been outstanding. The doctor and nurse have great bedside manner and were thorough with following up on the phone and helping to find pharmacies that carry the medicine we need.

::I absolutely had the BEST dentist visit. Started my visit with Ms Diane. She was pleasant and professional. I appreciated her smile and friendly attitude. Dental hygienist Janelle was professional and very sufficient with her time as I had expressed to her I had a doctors appointment at a certain time. I appreciate her happy cheerful vibe. Dr Mikulik was super nice and precise with his concerns about my teeth. He was clear and thorough in his plan and recommendations for my future visits. I absolutely enjoyed my visit at AMISTAD I felt I was the only patient they had all day.

::Honestly I would love to be able to give this place a higher rating but I have never had a more difficult time trying to get a doctors appointment. I’ve been trying since January (it’s now April) to book a counseling appointment as well as be referred to a specialist. The first appointment ended up actually booked being in the Robstown location and it’s a 40 minute drive so I would’ve been late, but no big deal, it was probably my mistake. The lady at the desk was very sweet don’t get me wrong, but I asked her for the soonest new patient appointment and while she was talking she mentioned like 5 different potential appointment dates and I didn’t know which one was actually mine until she wrote it down on the card. I show up for this appointment, now having been two months since I booked my first appointment, and they claim that my appointment has been cancelled. I did forget the appointment card at home, but I still had the confirmation text saying I had an appointment on this day. The lady at the front desk asks me “Did you get the confirmation call, too?” I don’t answer calls from unknown numbers because I get 5+ spam calls a day, so I didn’t, but I thought if I confirmed over text it shouldn’t matter. I got frustrated, said I’d been here a month ago to make a new appointment, and in the middle of my sentence the lady at the front desk cut me off and said “You’ve never been seen here before.” I begin to get irritated, because yes, I know that, that’s the whole point, but she tried her best anyway to get me an appointment 15 minutes after the original one I had scheduled. I arrived at the clinic at 9:40, wasn’t seen by a doctor until 11:45 and in the three minute TOTAL conversation I had with her she told me all she could do was refer me to three other specialists. One for dental, one for behavioral health, and one for gastro. They give me a paper saying I’ll have an appointment in, and I quote “about a month” and then they say I’m free to go. I’ve been waiting for a call, finally received one this morning and it went like this: “Hi, yes we have three referrals for you. Actually we don’t offer dental here so I’m gonna cancel that.” Cancelling my dental referral after saying they had dental was confusing enough, but I said “Thanks, how can I book an appointment?” because I’m a new patient, and I don’t know if she just didn’t hear me or something but all she said back was “Yes thanks bye bye.” I call back because I also need information on how to access my patient portal so maybe I can just do this all from home, and call to find out I’m tenth in queue. I wait on the phone for forty minutes, when they answer I’m transferred between FIVE people, one of them saying the referrals confused HER too, one of them finally telling me that with referrals i’ll have to wait around a week or two to receive a call about an appointment (which would’ve been great to know in the first call seeing as i’m a first time referral), and that the woman in charge of the patient portals just stepped out because she has things to tend to but they’ll give me a call back. I booked my first appointment in January, it’s April now, and as a first time patient I feel like I’ve talked to maybe two people who have actually been helpful and patient with me. I never write negative reviews because I feel like people who are just trying to make a living don’t deserve to be dragged by some stranger on the internet, but this is my health im trying to get in check, which is just as important to me as it is to everyone else. I’m just disappointed in how this entire thing was handled. The staff is sweet, but I do think they would benefit from better organization and communication with first time patients. Im not saying you have to be the nicest or most compassionate person in the world, but at least extend a little bit more fluid communication to the patient.
