This property went to another low level during last few weeks. Again, I have lived in many places this is is the WORST 1. Last weekend, the toilets were clogged. Sewage was overflowing. For THREE FULL DAYS, clogged toilets were not cleaned. This place has a policy of not cleaning public toilets on weekends. So, say, you workout on Saturday morning and want to use the public restroom, sadly you will be greeted by overflowing sewage. Luxury living? 2. BAD THERMOSTATS, LOCKED UNDER KEY: A week ago, my buddies and I wanted to watch the game in the clubroom. We noticed it was freezing there....my 7 foot tall buddy touched the vent and saw that it was pumping cold air. okay, we should be able to fix it? Right? NO! NO! Thermostat was locked with a key, set to a cold temperature of 63 or 60F or so...and set to COLD setting. ok, it is locked, we thought maybe front desk can help? Well, NO!!! Front desk said key is only with the property manager....but wait, this place has no property manager for two years!!! We were losing our sanity. This is nuts! only an EVIL person can do so....why lock the thermostat? Why hide the key? What kind of luxury apartment is this? We asked around...and I learned a new secret about this building...it has dysfunctional thermostats....so, maybe EVIL staff thought that lets freeze residents....lets just lock the thermostat and hide the key...so EVIL. So MEAN! 3. DOG POOP: Staff has sent many emails on this topic. They know about this problem. Well, nothing has been done. You can see dog poop all over the building. Shame on the staff. Luxury living? 4. BROWN WATER IN TAP: A month ago staff turned off plumbing without notice. People in the building woke up to brown water (maybe with Sewage) and drank that water. Staff sent an email apologizing. Seriously! This is almost a crime. Luxury living? 5. No BUILDING LINK: All Apartments in DD/MD/VA use buildinglink type software so that you can get an automated email when packages arrive and when they are picked up. This building has lost so many packages...but still it swears to never use such a system. Shame on the management!! Penny wise Pound Foolish. Couple months ago they fired one front desk guy because of lost packages. 6. CLOGGED TOILETS: Why are toilets always clogged in general ? [YEAH, they use so called "GREEN" policy to install cheap materials....toilets are always clogged] 7. Small path from Trail to Gate is full of mud. Anybody with common sense would put tiles on that path so that it is not a safety hazard 8. Poor HVAC. When you tour you wonder and are impressed by beautiful ceiling fans. Well, here is the secret, the HVAC is messed up. Rooms either boil up to very high temperature or do not cool. So, they installed fans for you! 9. In the night there are no lights on the back gate. A small bulb would not even cost a dollar. Well, common sense! 10. When you tour you think it will be nice to spend time in Summer/Spring in the courtyard. Well, NO. Because of Zillions of mosquitoes. Management says that they have great "landscaping". Seriously! this place will be nicer if all of the weird plants are removed. It has become a breeding ground for bugs and mosquitos. Ask the staff, if the place is ever treated for mosquitoes! 11. Paper thin windows. Cool freezing air is always leaking through the windows. I wonder if somebody bribed the country for permits. Very poorly made windows! 12. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNITY. This almost like a official policy. Staff does not people to have a neighborhood feeling, I think. There is no way for us to share anything with our neighbors. No bulletin board. All buildings use buildinglink to share maid contacts, giveaway furniture...share free tickets to games etc. No way! So, when you are touring, please ask these questions. People in this building need to stand up and post more reviews to demand action from this building. Me and my buddies are just going insane about the LOCKED THERMOSTAT!!! WHAT KIND OF ADULT LUXURY BUILDING KEEPS THE THERMOSTAT LOCKED AND HIDE THE KEY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+: This apartments building has very convenient location: access to trail and to bunch of restaurants and so close to metro station. -: Very poor management work. Actually we have got 5 managers while living here for just a one year. And they never fulfill their promises and do not do what they have to do. If you ask them either to approve your lease agreement, or to check your bill, or to send you an email - they assure that they will do this right in a moment. But in reality you have to remind them more than 5 times to get what you need. Maintenance service is even worse. If you send them repair request they either do nothing (just do not come!), or make even worse than it was before, or repair smth but it become broken again in a week.

We enjoy living in our apartment but wish there was a 24 hour concierge as in other apartment buildings in the Bethesda area

I have lived in 10 different places. THIS IS THE WORST. Let me start this review as a caution to all current and prospective residents This place has a serious management issue. It is not the front staff (they are all very nice people). The issue is the senior management. I want to like the apartments....but the senior management needs to do "some" work, especially since they are raking in $7-8 million in rent. Where is that money going? Here is the check list for all prospective residents to ask the leasing office or the non-existent property manager: 1. Why is the property not cleaned every week (AT LEAST!)? Dog poop is for days sitting in the courtyard. Grill is never cleaned...it is full on carcinogens... 2. Why the wifi in the club room never working? [Even the staff uses their own hotspot because wifi is never working] 3. Why are toilets always clogged? [YEAH, they use so called "GREEN" policy to install cheap materials....toilets are always clogged] 4. Why are there no events or community resident page? 5. Packages are just thrown on the floor. Even a kindergarten kid would have the common sense that if there are hundreds of packages, they should be stacked on shelves. Why can't they build simple shelves or use Residentlink type of software to manage packages We always worry about losing packages! NOTE: LAST Week they fired their front desk person because of LOST packages. Property manager also resigned. WOW! 6. Small path from Trail to Gate is full of mud. Anybody with common sense would put tiles on that path so that it is not a safety hazard. 7. In the night there are no lights on the back gate. I have often seen kids dealing in drugs in the dark. A small bulb would not even cost a dollar. Well, common sense! 8. Poor HVAC. When you tour you wonder and are impressed by beautiful ceiling fans. Well, here is the secret, the HVAC is messed up. Rooms either boil up to very high temperature or do not cool. So, they installed fans for you! 9. Coffee machine is full of carcinogens: Terrible coffee machine. They have the cheapest possible machine. 10. Zillions of mosquitoes. Management says that they have great "landscaping". Seriously! this place will be nicer if all of the weird plants are removed. It has become a breeding ground for bugs and mosquitos. Ask the staff, if the place is ever treated for mosquitoes! 11. If you have a problem with your apartment, good luck! They will say sorry, we cannot move you! 12. Paper thin windows. Cool freezing air is always leaking through the windows. 13. All buildings use a software called resident link or something. It makes it easy for people to know when packages are delivered and/or share contacts with neighbors. This building swears and refuses to use such type of software. You can never learn from neighbors about local events, about maid contacts, share/buy/sell furniture. You will never know when your package is delivered. Hope this helps. My hope is that management reads this list and does something. BEWARE....the leasing office person is very mean and she lies on your face. She might say "We have NEVER ever... heard of this problem!". Well, it is her "job" to sell you the lease...so I guess lies are justified! So, please beware! Use this checklist to help yourself during the lease signing process.

Aside from the beautiful apartments and exterior environment, the staff at 7001 Arlington really is a massive selling point to renting at this building. Full disclosure, after spending a weekend looking for apartments in the D.C. area my husband and I determined that our commutes to both of our jobs would just be too difficult from Bethesda and therefore we went with another apartment complex in the center of the city for sheer convenience. However, we were extremely sad about not being able to live at 7001 Arlington because we loves the apartments and the overall environment. This is not a complex that tries to sell you on cheap seemingly fancy amenities, but focuses more about the quality of your living experience and making you feel like you truly have a home at 7001 Arlington. We worked with Suzanne, who just like all the other staff we encountered was beyond pleasant to work with. I normally do not write reviews like this, but our experience was so positive that I felt compelled to acknowledge the time and effort of 7001 Arlington publicly. We are sad we won't have the opportunity to live in this complex, but wanted to encourage others to do so. Finally, if you have a dog, this is the place to go. It is a super friendly pooch environment, with a staff that wants to get to know your dog and holds dog-friendly events...and you can't beat that trail access!
