::61st & Peña Station is unique amongst the new RTD commuter rail stations, in that it is the only station NOT paid for by the FasTracks program. Financed by the City & County of Denver along with Denver International Airport (DEN), the 61st & Peña Station was a major factor in Panasonic’s decision to locate their North American HQ nearby. DEN owns and operates the parking lot at this station and charges from the first day. Future development around the station will be part of the Peña Next neighborhood, which will be the testing grounds for cutting-edge future smart technologies for homes, businesses, infrastructure and transportation. Autonomous vehicles are set to debut in the area along a fixed guideway delivering patrons to and from the train station sometime in 2018. Interesting facts: -The segment north (to Denver Airport Station) and the segment south (to 40th & Airport Station) are the areas where the A Line hits full speed at 79mph. -Look west towards the mountains in those segments and you’ll see that you’re traveling faster than the cars on Peña Blvd. -Traveling from 61st & Peña Station towards the airport, pay close attention to the south as you approach the bridge over E-470 and you will see some basic infrastructure in place for the only other proposed A Line station that could still be financed outside of the FasTracks program. -Station name for the above fact?: 88th & Himalaya Station -Fingers crossed that nothing happens (think breakdown) to the rail system north of 61st & Peña to the airport as that is the current longest stretch of single-track in the system. -While the first year of operations experienced many operational breakdowns and failures, the A Line now has the 2nd highest on time performance (B line is 1st but has no stops) and average daily ridership approaching 20k/day.

::Made it to Union Station and back. A+ would recommend.

::My only complaint is that you have to pay for parking while other stops, you do not. Anyone know why that is?

::Love the A-Line. It's a safe way to travel around the Mile High City. I make it home every time from Union Station! Even when I fall asleep miss my stop and wake up at the end of the rout (DIA). With everything still in my pockets!

::I've been evicted 5 times by my Girl, but I always come back to my home sweet home. WH-Ridge. I still can't tell if she loves me or hates me. Sweet soft Italian Devil.
