  O Lago Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis foi construído em 1860 para abastecer a cidade de Nova York durante os períodos em que a central de distribuição estivesse em reformas, geralmente por duas ou três semanas ao ano, mas nos dias de hoje estima-se que toda essa água seria consumida em apenas quatro horas, o local é cercado de muito verde e tem como fundo uma bela vista dos arranha céus de Manhattan e uma das mais populares pistas para caminhada e corrida do Central Park, com cerca de 2,5 km de extensão. No inverno o imenso reservatório fica completamente congelado e fechado ao público por motivos de segurança.

  Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir People in New York jog anywhere, including on a busy bridge next to lots of cars with not so great air. On the other hand, this running track inside the Central Park offers serenity. I am too lazy to run, but I love walking on this track, looking at the skyscrapers that’s only a few miles away, yet tranquility in the area makes me feel as if I am in Westchester. I love looking at the reservoir while walking, especially when the water fled away with the sun; I am sure Arthur Rimbaud would have appreciated the scene. The track isn’t rubber made, so it gets wet after it rains / snows, but you see a number of joggers, regardless of conditions. It’s just a reservoir surrounded by a track, so there’s nothing too much about this area to be touristy. Yet, I suppose the view of the skyscrapers with the water attracts people. Along with the joggers, you do occasionally see people taking pictures. On the eastern side, there are a few touristy spots in the neighborhood, including the museums such as Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum, the MET, and the Frick. If from outside the city and touring around the area, walking a few more minutes to the reservoir gives an additional experience!

  Favorite running track in NYC! Cherry blossoms in the spring, fall foliage in autumn, sunsets and sunrises, people watching... and many raccoons to keep you on your toes.

  Der Central Park ist einer der schönsten Orte in NYC. Erbaut wurde der Park auf einer Müllhalde. Heute gibt es dort einige Teiche auf denen zum teil mit Ruderboot oder ferngesteuerten Booten gefahren werden kann. Zudem gibt es einige Sportplätze und trotz dem ganzen Trubel gibt es auch sehr idyllisch Plätze, an denen man keinen Menschen sieht und den Streifenhörnchen zuschauen kann.

  The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis reservoir loop is my very favorite run in the city! Flat dirt path and just over 1.58 mis. per loop. Scenic water views, water fountains nearby & a clock at the top of the steps near benches . . I've done 3 NYC marathons & trained in GA & FL for them all. If I were to train in NYC, it would be loops around the reservoir. It's a convenient walk from either upper east side or upper west side NYC.
