This is a WONDERFUL place. My hubby took us there for a nature walk, and it was the most unbelievable nature walk in a long time! It's amazing to see so much nature in one piece of land that hasn't been destroyed by humans...my girls had a wonderful time they even have a booklet with some activities for the kids to write about things they saw as well as important information about the refuge and National Parks, at the end they got a Rangers badge after raising their right hand and promising to respect and protect nature! It was such a moment! There are two nest platforms for Ospreys that were there as we walked! They actually nest in these platforms and you could see them up close. Bring your ID and they will lend you binoculars (if you dont own one) so you can see the birds up close. There are landmarks for turtle eggs too! So much to see i hardly got space to tell. For a family day this is THE place to visit to have an unforgettable time and for creating memories with our children. Put sunblock on, bring water and baseball caps and go in. So much to see, enjoy and learn. There is nothing like teaching our children about protecting nature, this planet is our only home and we should be more diligent protecting it. Definitely recommend this place highly!!!

Great nature reserve. If you live in the area or are interested in seeing the migration patterns of certain birds I would recommend planning a trip out to this location. Lots of cool things to see and native species in a city where you wouldn't think there are. This is the largest refuge in the east coast and located nearby JFK. It's free to visit as well so it is definitely worthwhile!

Nice area to walk around and see some birds & take a few photos. We've never been lucky to see large gatherings of birds. Finally fixed destruction from sandy, so can circle entire pond. Walk is pretty level/easy. Rangers always informative and nice. Ospry are always cool to watch.

Low key fishing hole. It was a great Spring day to go fishing. Not too cold or hot. 63-65 degrees was just right.

I stop by to polish my car and truck after they're washed. Then take a good ride down Crossbay! But, It's a great place to walk around in to explore the trails with all the trees, birds and other wildlife. Lots of photo ops too!
