  This is my go-to pharmacy but sometimes they don't have my prescription which is fairly disappointing for a 'pharmacy'.

  Poorly understaffed. Picking up a prescription should not take half an hour. Dirty store. Small selections and a lot of it is usually sold out.

  I’ve lived in Brooklyn for over three decades, and I’ve been passing by this store for most of my life. It used to have names like Pathmark and Rite Aid and now it’s Walgreens. The layout hasn’t changed and neither has the logistical problem that has always existed at this location. The selection and staff are great but the wait times for checking out your items at this store can be the longest in all of Brooklyn - excepting only service stores like barbershops and auto shops. The majority of this neighborhood doesn’t speak a lick of English (mostly Russian, Spanish, Urdu) so the other businesses in this neighborhood almost exclusively employ Russian speakers. Being a chain store, I suppose Walgreens can’t do that. This location also doesn’t even bother to employ automatic checkout lines because I can tell you right now it wouldn’t work and they know it. A self-checkout machine here would need to prompt the customer in at least a dozen different languages - and that’s not even beginning to consider that Brighton is the single oldest neighborhood in NYC based on demographic statistics. All of this can lead to problems when it comes to adoption of tech. For example, recently I stood on line as the next person to be served but waited ~16 minutes. One cashier was registering a woman for a Walgreens card but as she did not understand any English, he was essentially guessing at her phone number and address. Using the credit card machine was another obstacle. Simultaneously on line with the other cashier was a man who spoke English but was engaging the cashier in a wide ranging discussion on the advantages/disadvantages of a stool softener and a multivitamin (centrum regular or silver or Walgreens brand?) He concluded the conversation with a disagreement over pricing. It’s “my” store and although the name on the signage has changed numerous times over the years, this store and the Dunkin Donuts on this block have remained constants for close on 36 years of my life. I’ve likely spent several hundred hours of my life waiting to be served and if I’m lucky I’ll be waiting several hundred more...
