Our family has made many many trips to this ER.I think Room 1 should be named after us. Every time we have attend the service is amazing. Years past we never had to wait in waiting room. Today there were several patients when we arrived in waiting room so we had a longer wait of about 2 hours and while we were in our room there were multiple big emergencies so we had to wait a bit also there for the doctor to come in. Although we had to wait longer the attention and medical care was amazing and outstanding as always. Our nurse Mrs. Snead did a great job keeping us updated on our wait and that it would not be much longer. Dr. McDonald did such a great job doing tests, bloodwork and explaining everything so clearly and all of her concerns. We went home knowing we received great medical care. The room and facilities were very clean and comfortable. So blessed to live in a country that you can walk into a hospital and get treated so kindly and receive outstanding medical care.

I posted a 5 star review already, which they deserve for the visit; however, make sure they're not prescribing you any new meds (which seems impossible if you're getting a new diagnosis). I had an allergic reaction to one of the antibiotics they prescribed. After missing my morning dose, they finally got back to me and said the doctor on call, which is not even in the same facility, said to follow up with my primary care physician (PCP). I told her I did not have a PCP and was told I could visit urgent care then, or go back to the ER. I was also told that I could try just taking Benadryl for my full body, itchy, rash (I guess for the duration of the antibiotic?), which goes against everything I've heard about stopping immediately if you experience severe side affects. I understand a doctor not wanting to follow up for a patient that wasn't even under his facility's care, so I swung back by the ER I originally visited to speak with them directly. After now missing my second dose, I was then told it is policy for them not to help at all after you're released unless you check back into the ER (the first woman did not tell me this is their policy - seems like if that were the case, she wouldn't even need to follow up with a doctor and could've save me some time). So after what I'm sure will be a wildly expensive ER visit, I'm having to pay more money for a follow up visit just so I can get an antibiotic I'm not allergic to. This is incredibly ridiculous and a little irresponsible if you ask me to put me in the position of not getting better or paying more money for a simple prescription change. There are so many antibiotics and this is something that had I already known I was allergic to it, they would've simply prescribed a different medication. I'm not asking for a change in care, just a quick 5 minute prescription change. It's also something they think my PCP can do with a phone call rather than a visit (so they know it's not a big deal)... I might have tried that if I actually had a PCP but now I'm essentially being fined for not having one.

Don't ever visit this provider. I had a simple abdomen ultrasound scheduled which took barely 10 minutes to finish. When i get the bill i see $1500 charges for facility fee on top of the ultrasound bill. When i called them to confirm the charges before scheduling the appointment they told me there will be no additional charges and did not mention anything about facility fee. But now i see $1500 charges as facility fee for a simple ultrasound which i have to bare. I did call them to reverse but they just keep transferring me from one person to another and nobody is ready to take responsibility. I honestly feel cheated.

I've had nothing but stellar care from WakeMed in every instance, but I think today's visit did more to show the care and quality provided than any other. I'm reasonably sure that everything that could have gone wrong with my appointment did. I had scheduled online for a flu shot and requested a COVID booster as well in the 'additional comments' section. I arrived for my appointment and checked in, and after several minutes was getting curious as to the delay. Right about then the main receptionist approached me to let me know that they were awaiting a new shipment of flu vaccines and attempting to hold the remainder for those vulnerable. They had a COVID vaccine for me, but were hoping I'd be willing to pass on the flu shot. I was, and returned to waiting. Turns out that some miscommunication occurred, and they thought I'd left. So the COVID booster pulled out for me was otherwise administered. As soon as the receptionist was informed, they let me know and gave me the option of an extended wait (the vial of vaccine would have to be pulled out, let sit for 20-30 mins, prepared, and then sit for a few minutes more) or rescheduling. Without time pressure, I agreed to wait. Thirty-five minutes later I was led back to get my booster. The nurse confirmed the events as the receptionist had relayed them and was incredibly apologetic. They confirmed my details and administered the booster quickly and efficiently, and I was out the door. Some would take this opportunity to write a scathing review, but honestly, I felt so informed, validated, and cared for throughout the whole process. I was never left to stew, never ignored. Anyone in any business can have a bad day or make a mistake. Those can be compounded in healthcare. But keeping the patient informed and offering the best care possible is absolutely the right way to handle things. Thank you all, WakeMed Apex!

My experience at this facility has always been exceptional. The lobby looks like a hotel and the fountain right outside the big glass window is so therapeutic. It’s not too busy so you get to see the nurse right away for your vitals and the doctor comes within 5-10 minutes. You’ll get all your X-ray, EKG and any blood work done within 10-15 minutes. The service is great and the staff is extremely friendly. I’m not sure where all of the negative reviews are coming from. But I’m originally from Brooklyn NY and this is exceptional compare to that if Brookyn NY. I guess people are just nit picky down here in the south! But this place deserves higher ratings for what it offers. Thanks you guys
