Love the food, quaint little cafe style restuarant. Home made chips and Sandwiches to die for. Can't wait to go again.

Tourist trap with no attention to detail. The homemade tortillas were good but the soup was lukewarm with a lackluster presentation and my companion took one bite of his enchiladas and would not eat more. Worse yet, no one cared when they saw we had not eaten the food.

Really disappointing for my first night out in San Antonio. Really disappointing that Google and Yelp considers this a four star restaurant. NOT SAFE AT ALL for gluten free diners or people with gluten allergies. NOT SUITABLE FOR VEGETARIANS! (They admit things marked vegetarian are not in fact vegetarian. Read on.) Google and Yelp lead me wrong tonight. This place was not even close to four stars. We walk in at 9pm and are told it's a half hour wait for a table. We get a seat at the bar, noticing that the restaurant isn't even half full. But every single empty table is absolutely filthy, so they probably just needed half an hour to clean them. We get a drink from a bartender who didn't smile, didn't say "hi" or didn't try to be friendly at all. Drink was mediocre. Bar top was sticky, covered in trash and wet spots, and really dirty. Go to the bathroom, and that is almost flooded. Trash and water (I hope it was water) all over the floor. An empty restroom cleanliness log hangs on the wall, which apparently is supposed to be signed by an employee who cleans the restroom every hour. It's not only signature-less, but it's dated November 2017. Maybe the restroom hasn't been cleaned since then... Back to the bar - drink is less than great. We finally get the unenthusiastic and slow bartender's attention again and ask for some chips and water. The chips are COVERED in grease, and our water takes a while, despite an almost empty bar. Clearly the bartender just didn't want to be there. At this point, my guest wants to leave and go next door for dinner, but the host comes up and tells us our table is ready, so we decide to stay. We get sat at a disgusting table. The floor below is is covered in trash and food. The table itself is sticky. The waiter comes over, slams a jug of water down, and says "are you ready?" No greeting, no introduction, no nothings. We reluctantly order. People here clearly just don't care. I don't know how they managed to get people in the door, but maybe they are all first time diners like us who won't return. My food comes, and I immediately notice it's a flour tortilla. The menu said my dish was gluten free, and a flour tortilla would make me sick since I have severe gluten allergies. I call my server over and ask "is this a flour tortilla?" And he says yes. I speak to a manager, and he says that dishes marked vegetarian are not in fact all vegetarian, dishes marked gluten free are not gluten free...these are huge issues that mess with people's health, not just a way to lure customers in with lies. Even if you get a dish with no meat that is marked vegetarian, the manager told me all the ingredients are still not vegetarian. Since one of the main reasons that I chose this place was because they advertise a lot of gluten free options, I was really upset to learn that they serve these "gluten free" options on flour tortillas. The manager said the filling was gluten free, but I pointed out that the entire dish was marked gluten free. The menu doesn't even say "choice of flour or corn tortilla" or anything like that. It's marked gluten free, I ordered it, and it was served full of gluten. This place is a joke. Even if I didn't have them messing with my health I would have been sorely disappointed. But now I am reporting them to the health department as well for falsely labeling things and getting people sick without care.

My husband and I have been faithful customers of this establishment since it opened and we have never had a problem until this past Sunday. We took my sister & brother in law to Viva Villa for lunch. The service was poor, long wait for drinks and refill on chips & salsa. The real problem came when the bill came. My brother in law was charged for three margaritas when he only drank two. When he tried to resolve it with the waitress she passed him on to the manager and the bottom line is " the customer is always right" does not apply at this establishment. My husband and I were embarrassed by this incident as we invited them to this establishment. We will no longer give them our business. They will have to determine if charging someone 8.00 for a drink (they didn't order) is worth losing loyal customers. I. Palomino
