  First, the good - this is a great location and cheap. Second, the bad - If you have any special circumstances, such as a late or early check-in/check-out make sure you get this confirmed during your reservation, not afterward even if the travel site states to contact the hotel directly - this property management group will not honor it unless it is stated in the reservation. Check-in is at 3pm...ish - they just started cleaning our room at 3:30 when we came back to check-in for the second time and they only have a medium cabinet to store luggage until check-in. However, for check-out, beware the cleaning staff will wake you up an hour prior to check out to make sure you are out by 11AM, and if you happen to not be out exactly at 11 they will knock on your door repeatedly to motivate you to get out and this was during the week imagine on a weekend. Now, the room - ours was a small efficiency apartment which was adequate, however the maintenance of the room is depicted accurately in the pictures left by another reviewer. The bathroom had a new toilet...in which you can sit on and wash your hands at the same time as well as giving your child a bath, that is how small it is. I saw nothing in the pictures the property displays which resembled what the actual hotel looks like. My next trip to NYC I will make sure I will not skimp on the cost of the hotel because after a long day of walking everywhere I want to be able to come back and relax in a comfortable setting and a relaxing bed.

  We checked in to room 4D on 3/3/2012 and checked out the morning of 3/4/2012. The room was OK at first glance but a closer look revealed that the kitchen floor had not seen a mop in ages and neither had the cabinets. The bathroom was the real problem as evidenced by the photos that I uploaded. Mold on the ceiling and the upper walls made the place disgusting and impossible to even contemplate a shower. The mold had been painted over and was now coming through. The vent at the ceiling with plug with thick dirt and dust. The bathroom sink barely drained. If it wasn't for the location and the fact that we didn't have a lot of money we would have checked out that day. I echo the sentiments of another reviewer about the door people. Unpleasant at best and unhelpful for sure. Do not book unless you see recent bathroom pics!

  I don't understand why everybody seems to expect the Waldorf. This is a friendly little place, with a friendly and helpful doorman. I had the studio, and it was at least as big as the average Manhattan hotel room. Yes, it's old, but the amenities were new. It is not well soundproofed, but you have to remember it's an older apartment building. The LOCATION is fantastic. You can walk anywhere from there- lots to do, to eat, close to several subway lines. My room (in April 2011) was $109, a steal. I hope to stay there again. GREAT neighborhood that cancels out some of the more mediocre things about this property.

  You get a decent impression when you first get in the room - nice furniture, hardwood floors. To call the bathroom tiny is to be generous- I pity a larger person who is assigned to this room. The bathroom needed a serious cleaning with a stiff brush and lots of bleach. Also, there appears to be no housekeeping service. I don't need to have my sheets changed in a 3 night stay, but it would have been nice to have the garbage emptied out. Also, because the bathroom is microscopic with a tiny towel bar, and it has no ventilation, my towel stayed damp. I asked for a fresh towel - never received it. I only encountered one doorman who was friendly; one actually seemed disturbed when we asked if our luggage could be stored until check in time. For people needing to be near NYU, it's a fantastic location but that's about all this place has to offer.
