If you are an African American woman shopping alone expect to be stalked in this shop and treated more like a would-be shoplifter rather than a customer. Honestly, there is nothing in the place worthy of the insult. I plan to do me and the shop owner a favor in the future by spending my money elsewhere. There are many equally adorable shops in the area where I feel welcomed, so no loss for me. Addendum to original review: The owner's response below adds insult to injury. I was a potential customer that was treated horribly in his place of business and to suggest that I probably looked suspicious just for walking in the door speaks volumes about the type of training his staff gets. For the record, I didn't feel the warmth or welcomed.

This place has the perfect assortment of well-known brands mixed with local DC pieces. On one table, you’ll find yourself browsing their selection of DC prints and coasters and on the next table, you’ll find Voluspa candles and Alexis Bittar jewelry. The owner really has a talent for curating and I can’t wait to see what new items await the next time I go.

Best place to find a nice house warming or birthday present for someone that is local DC themed. Many options to choose from for gifts. A friend of mine got his niece the cutest baby outfit while I got some DC flag themed drink coasters. There are nice pictures, paintings and anything you would need to deck out your home in DC fashion.

This place has an amazing assortment of funky/fun/artistic knicknacks and decorations. Perfect place to find a present for a friend (or for yourself!) I absolutely love this store

Urban Dwell is one of those really cool shops that has anything a modern creative person would want from clever artisan greeting cards to Hillary Clinton dolls. It's very spacious so you're bound to fund something you like. It's also just off the main strip of Adams Morgan making it easy to stop in on your way to dinner. If you're from DC, the prices won't shock you, but tourists would find it a bit pricey.
