  A wonderful intermodal station, although it is a bit labyrinthine. The main waiting room is a beautiful throwback with Morris chairs and echo-y big brown floor tiles. The one trouble spot is the tunnel up from which connects to the elevated tracks...but if you keep walking, you access the red line and up and out to the bus loading area (Patsaouris Plaza) that is open to the air. Btw, stop in to One Gateway building lobby...it’s beautiful.

  Overall, great way to get around, pretty much connecting a majority, if not all, of SoCal. Yes, like any great metropolis, there are issues of different sorts. Use some street smarts and avoid bad situations. Is a destination too, because just across the street is Plaza Olvera.

  Lovely station, I came just to check out the architecture, I’m from London and we have some pretty nice terminal stations, this is also really nice. Yeah of course there are some homeless people knocking about but this is typical of any major city station. Enjoy!

  Union Station is a central transportation hub to a variety of locations. You will find Los Angeles Metro stations here (Blue Red Purple and Gold Line), Express and local bus service, Flyaway service to local airports and Amtrak. Whether you are traveling via any of those modes of transportation or not, this is a location to visit to admire the history and architecture. Marble floors, hanging lighting, high ceilings, mosaic tiling on the patio outside near Trax restaurant. There is a piano at the end of the sitting area before the small food court, inviting anyone to sit and tickle the ivories. You never know what you will hear: classical, jazz, show tunes...even boogie boogie and classic rock tunes that feature piano. Additionally, the Grand Ballroom is located at the street entrance, as well as Trax Restaurant, several food establishments, and a newspaper stand. There is a convenience/grocery store near the entrance to the trains that sells a variety of items and food. Definitely worth the time to visit...

  In order to avoid the long lines, arrive at the customer service office a little after 6:00 am during the week right after they open. I have always found the nice ladies here to be very helpful and informative. Two thumbs up for all they put up with and still act professionally.
