My wife, who has a severe wheat allergy, and I went in for dinner and checked repeatedly with our server that the food she ordered was wheat-free. She ordered the miso eggplant, and as she was eating it she noticed it contained little balls of tempura batter. She asked the chef and he flatly denied he had added anything that could possibly be crunchy like that or taste like that. But sure enough, she had an allergic reaction and we had to leave. The food was good, but their extreme indifference to the health of their customers is sorely disappointing.

Just left this place, was told I could get gluten free as I have a very severe wheat allergy. The server knew nothing about what did or didn’t have gluten and was really rude. I was promised the miso eggplant had no gluten, only to find bits of tempura in the sauce. Now I’m at my hotel hoping this Benadryl will help me not have to go to the hospital because of an allergic reaction they caused. Food was good, but not at the cost of my health!

Very nice staff and very good food. They kept us waiting for part of our order they missed, but it was a misunderstanding. I would go again if I could afford to as a college student. For students, it makes a good fancy dinner for every now and again.

Exceeds the standards most Americans have for authentic Japanese food. For those who lived in Japan, it's not exactly the same but close. Prices are standard for DC restaurants of similar quality ($10-15 for rice bowls, $30+ for sushi). The house sake is a very good value; $10 and delicious. Music is loud and bass-heavy, but not too loud that you have to yell when talking. Last, I miss Cafe Asia in Arlington, so I go here to reminisce (same owner...I think).
