I'm a tiki connoisseur and was super excited for my first visit to the Atlanta Trader Vic's, and it didn't disappoint. I'm sure it's because it was the weekend of Inuhele, the local Polynesian-pop conference, and representatives were there from corporate. Regardless, we got the A-team, and the food and service were outstanding (though I've heard it can be inconsistent otherwise due to staffing and supply issues). I loved it so much, I came in for dinner 3 times over 4 days. For tropical drinks, it's hard to beat the quality and selection at Trader Vic's. Vic invented the Mai Tai in 1944, but make sure you ask for the 1944 version or you might get the less impressive version that uses a mix. The Vic's Itch and London Sour were also outstanding, as were all the pupus I tried and the entrees from the wood-fired Chinese oven. The restaurant is huge but feels intimate due it being a collection of smaller connected rooms, all of which are decadently adorned in mid-century style tropical décor. It's fun and funky fine dining with an elegance that's missing from the bland, corporate restaurants in most hotels. I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit!

Couldn’t recommend enough. This place looks and feels like 60’s. The service and friendliness of staff is like nothing I’ve seen before. The drinks are fantastic, the food is perfect and the atmosphere is exceptional. I still can’t believe how a place like this could exist today.

Once upon a time there were Trader Vic's all across America and now there are only three. This place? It's a destination. It's a Tiki-powered time machine fueled by surf guitars, reverb, and Theremins. And rum. It's a bucket-list Tiki bar. It's an institution. It's great, and you can get a bowl of boozy deliciousness and some long straws to share it with your friends. How awesome is that? So, some history. This place opened up in the Hilton basement in 1976 and has not changed its décor since. It's the last bar that Victor Bergeron himself had a hand in designing, and it's full-on midcentury Tiki kitschy chic. Read: amazing. The signature cocktail, the Peachtree Punch, is a Vic creation. And look. You can't talk about Tiki bars without talking about the Mai Tai, and you can't talk about the Mai Tai without talking about Trader Vic. He invented the drink, after all! Perspective, though: even though it's Tiki wonderful, Vic's is still a hotel restaurant with all the shortcomings that hotel restaurants have and things definitely can be inconsistent. Sure, the food is overpriced. Sure, it may be bland at times. That Mai Tai might be more mix than craft these days. But who cares? The bartenders are still super friendly and amazing. Here's the thing. Trader Vic's may not be the best Tiki shop in town - that crown goes to S.O.S. in Decatur - but it really doesn't matter. This place is grandaddy of Tiki bars. It's unique to Atlanta. It's an out-of-this world old-school Polynesian pop culture powerhouse. They don't make 'em like this anymore. That's what matters.

A real bummer. The lack of staff really sank our visit. Our waiter seemed to be trying his best with the hand he was dealt. The drinks were good, once they eventually arrived. The food, however, was cold and took a long time to arrive. We ended up not eating a good chunk of it. We all remarked at how empty the location was, considering how crowded the rest of the hotel appeared to be, and as the evening wore on and we waited for our drinks and food, we were able to understand why. Unfortunately, they were remarkably out of stock of nearly every mug on the menu as well. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and wanted to love the experience and I'm glad I was able to visit this one time... But I don't think another visit is necessary.

Great cocktails and food. A nostalgic place, but we enjoyed it a lot! Our server Sam was very good and took time to explain the drinks dishes! Highly recommend!
