  Nice friendly clean place, very chill and small. On Friday and Saturdays they open a back bar so you have two entrences. Good selection of beer and very limited selection of wine.

  Old european pub atmosphere with a back section and 2 bars. Lots of interesting beers and some sandwiches and small plates to accompany.

  The best thing about this place is the beer menu. The next best thing is the patio. The worst thing about this place is when a staff member is in a bad mood, which may have just been a fluke. The next worst thing is the food menu - it sounds better than it really is.

  A proper pub in Downtown Oakland with variety beer to choose from. Snacks are on the menu. Generally $$ for beer and tapas. Barkeepers are generally knowledgeable and make great recommendations. Good gathering space for couples and small groups. Expect a noisy ambience. Two-sides: front and back of the house from which you can order different menu items. Back has kitchen. You can open tap on either side. Have open patio for nice, dry spring evenings. Have clean toilets. Limited happy hours. Limited street metered parking that is free after 6pm and on Sundays. Walk-distance from Marriot and 12th Street BART.

  I did not expect the bar to be so small. I imagined in my mind a larger location after reading reviews. But, it is architecturally beautiful. Lots of regulars in attendance that took up most of the front bar, and semi back room. We did find some open tables across from the bathroom. Just sit down, there wasn't any hostess service, and order from the bar. The beer list didn't have as many true Belgian beers on it as I was hoping, but the ones we had were excellent. I didn't get to peak at the bottle list. The food was excellent. The chef came out to apologize once for the wait (it wasn't bad in my experience) and said the food could be better, but they were swamped on a shift change. The food was great! The Turkey sandwich was excellent. My wife got the grilled cheese and said it was also excellent. The devilled eggs were made to order (i.e. not premade)! They could simply have told us they were out of eggs, but the chef didn't, he took the time to make them and I guess this prompted the apology for the wait time. We hadn't noticed. We'll definitely go back.
