Lovely ambience. Small and cozy. The servers were attentive. The drinks menu is extensive. The food menu was faded😀 so it was tough to read it, but we settled for a plate of wings and baby back ribs. The ribs were cold, but tasty. The wings were fried, but no sauce! They were really tasty and the smoky taste was delicious.

For a place that almost always makes the list of places to eat in St. Louis I wasn't blown away. The food was good as was the service but it was very expensive for what you got. I'm a cheap person but I know there are a lot of places in St. Louis where you can get food that is just as good for a much better price and leave full. We had an appetizer and a main course for both of us and I left hungry. I almost never leave a place hungry. I wanted to like it but I just can't really give it more than an okay rating.

I went to get carry out for my senior father who requested meatloaf for dinner (the rest of our group had already eaten). The Shaved Duck was around the top of my "best meatloaf" Yelp list. Seeing that it was a root beer glazed meatloaf and they had carmelized onion mashed potatoes my father was sold. They made an exception on their carry out rule which was fantastic customer service. Food was prompt, tasty (so he says), and I can attest smelled amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly, and made me feel completely invited despite having to do a carry out when they normally wouldn't have. We will definitely be returning to try the jalapeno creamed corn, cocktails, and delicious looking/smelling food.

Great Service! I'd give the food a 7 or 8. Our service from Kristin could easily give this review a 15! We waited 50 minutes to be seated. Walking around the block and immediate outdoor seating made our wait doable. As soon as we got settled in the table to the right of the bar in the corner, drinks were ordered pretty quickly and things got going. We ordered water and the loaded fries to share as an appetizer. I would've liked more meat in there but no biggie. Our entrees came out right on time... Meat loaf and veggie sandwich. Both spicy and pretty good. The differences in the 4 sauces on the table were explained wonderfully by Kristin and she graciously entertained us with a funny personal story. Dim lighting all over. Bar is up front. Expect a wait but the experience is well worth it. We got there at 7pm, seated at 7:50pm and walked out at 9:09pm.

Great local Beer selection. Loaded Fries are awesome. The Smoked Duck Breast is one of the best pieces of meat I've ever had. Super tender, and juicy. The smoked flavor is out of this world. If you think duck is greasy and gamey, you've never had this smoked duck. For as long as I can come here, I will always tell people to get the duck breast. Burnt Ends are fantastic as well. Mac 'n Cheese is a great side, but substitute the seafood gumbo and you won't regret, it has a good Cajun spice. Be prepared to wait, typical wait time is easily an hour, but it will be well worth it. Bar/waiting area is very small, may have to wait outside. Get The Duck Breast!
