Awesome thing to get your picture with. The gateway to the west is definitely a sight to see. You have to back up really far if you want to get everything in the frame. It is really a lot bigger in person than it looks like on TV or in movies or pictures. The thick galvanized steel is hard as a rock too. This was a great memory.

Ah, the St. Louis arch! The monument to westward expansion, as well as being the largest man made monument! The grounds have been recently redone and the new visitors center is currently under construction but the arch is still visitable! Parking was made easy by the parking lot underneath the Hyatt which only cost about 3 dollars for a 40 minute visit. If you've never been to the arch I highly recommend taking the tram up to the top to get a great view of the city skyline.

You need to walk under the arch to really appreciate the scale of just how big it is. While impressive from a distance, it's awesome up close. There is a lot of green space walking area around it. Very clean and safe environment. There are also lots of other things to see and do within walking distance. This is a must see if you've never been to St Louis.

Definitely a must see experience. Not the most fun you'll ever have, but worth it. The view is okay. The tram ride is slightly claustrophobic. The viewing deck is tightly packed and kind of short. The windows were small and hard to see out of. But again, worth it. Not because it's easy, or fun or even just to appreciate the magnificent engineering marvel that it is. Instead go for the opportunity to view America from the perspective of another time. A time of a changing nation, putting the horrors of world wars behind it and looking forward realizing that loosing of the bounds of this Earth into the new frontier of space was possible. An America where everyday men and women could realize a better life than their parents and grandparents. One with the breaking down of the barriers of segregation. That is why you go visit the Gateway Arch National Park.

This is a "must visit" when in St Louis. The arch is an amazing structure and it is worth the price to go up in. The museum is a great place to spend time while you wait for your elevator load time. There is plenty of displays to look at and the bookstore offers a good time waster too. The elevators are quite small so squeezing 5 people in each one is tight. It's amazing how they designed the elevator to go up in the arch and slightly rotate to always keep you level. The view at the top of course is amazing. Out of the east windows you can see the Mississippi and Illinois, to the west of course you have an amazing view of downtown St Louis. Worth the money every time!
