  The place is beautiful on the facade, I would love to make it my home, but the inside is unreplaceable. The amazing selection of books is one of a kind. January 9, 2018: I am sad to say that it looks like the The Center for Fiction is closed. The inside is empty. See the photos I placed. Mayor De Blasio is to blame. He cares less about local small valuable stores. Some building owners just sell to retire or some don't care and want to make money. But, do people like you and me a favor and visit local or small stores, spread the word to prevent more of a loss of culture, intelligent and provacative places to fuel your mind.

  Many great events for readers and writers; excellent reading groups (many led by accomplished writers); library has one of the largest fiction collections in New York; and a small nicely curated book shop featuring mostly novels, shorts stories, literary journals and books on the craft of writing.

  Great bookstore that supports a great cause (new writers!). I found some great paperbacks at $2 each! I picked up some stuff by Seneca and Virginia Woolf and Dostoevsky.
