::The chef is an absolute ego maniac and treats his staff horribly in the kitchen and in front of guests. He is a short, older man with white hair who initally came off very personable. Then I personally watched the chef curse and yell at our young server when she assisted another guest with their food (they were vegetarian and were accidentally served a meat dish) during our dinner service and then send her home in tears in the middle of our event. The venue is quaint but doesn't offer enough space to hold an event of any substantial size. Specifically because of the behavior of the chef I will never hold, nor attend any future event at The Carriage House.

::The Carriage House is now in the loving care of Janos Wilder, Tucson's most famous and accomplished high-cuisine chef. Janos' Downtown Grill, his more formal restaurant (right around the corner), is rightfully considered one of the culinary highlights of any trip to Tucson. Janos favors fresh and locally provisioned food, and is considered a major asset in Tucson as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. The Carriage House is now Janos' laboratory for experimenting with fine food, great service, and new venues for dining and otherwise gathering. It's all about the food. The best.

::The Carriage House recently catered a grand affair at our wedding venue, Agua Linda Farm - they did a fantastic job! The food was delicious and well presented, the staff were efficient and professional and they managed 300+ guests with grace and style!

::Food Its not a traditional dim-sum broader than just Asian, food from many cultures which was really fun. The portions are quite large so bring more than 2 people along. The food was good with some highlights (the Pork Shoulder, Papaya Salad, Pork and Shrimp dumplings) but a few of the items elements lacked flavor like the Dr. Pepper Pork Sliders, the biscuit that they were served on were dry and not very flavorful (elements should stand on their own). Soundings If you compare the decor of Downtown to Carriage House its a bit shocking. Downtown is very polished and refined while The Carriage House is simple at best using banquet tables and folding chairs made of plastic. These chairs are VERY low and for larger people the chairs get lower and lower the longer you sit in them. Service PERFECT! Friendly, energetic staff that was genuinely excited that we were there. Food was great but will not go back until the chairs are replaced.
