  I needed an appointment last minute and they managed to fit me in! Gina was my stylist. Not only was she professional and talented, she was also hilarious and easy to talk to. We had a great conversation. Bonus points for the glass of rose I got when I was waiting for my hair to set. I got a balayage done and I was blown away by how perfect it was. The space is calming and beautiful and everyone is professional and clearly very talented. Thanks Gina!

  Brooke is the best! Super sweet and friendly, and she really listened to me. She was also honest about what we could or couldn't do with my hair. She knows her stuff and will give you a great cut!

  Nice little place. Attention to detail and the stylist did very good listening, as this is my first change of salons in 21 years. Place is difficult to find and the music is a little too loud in the salon are my only negatives.

  This was the most horrible experience I have had I was waiting for my hair to grow my natural roots, so I can do the highlights I want. I googled the best hair salon in nyc, and the birdhouse salon was among of them. I went there after I scheduled my appointment, and I showed a picture of the highlights I want, and she confirmed she can do it, but then she started opening the foils without making sure its the color I want. It was all a mixture of brown and orange all over my hair and she added the bleech and the silver shampoo to cover the warm spots on my hair My hair was so horrible. I know she just wanted to wash my hair and get me going because she had other appointment coming up!!!! I was very disappointed!!!! Don’t go to this place for highlights I want to reply to the owner's response below. She replied to my review above saying that she is glad we have resolved this together. this is so not professional!! This has never happened!! I called many times to speak to her directly after she sent me an email asking me to delete the review. Whenever I call they always say to me that she is busy and she will call me back. So she has never called back and she just responded to my review to make people think that we have solved this. You contacted me.? yes but that was just to make me delete this review. All you said you were going to have me come to your salon and try to fix for two hours only. You clearly said that you cannot spend more than two hours trying to fix my hair. and I know that this cannot be done in two hours. So I had to go to another hair salon and they have spent six hours fixing my hair. So let me tell you Ms. Owner all you care about is your reputation in Google reviews.

  I was disappointed with this experience. My hair wasn’t how I envisioned it and it already needs coloring and cutting. A huge section was left at the front so it looked like I had one huge bad root as soon as I walked out. I should of complained and gone back but haven’t had the time. Expensive hair to be left sad about.
