  Place opens at 8am. At 8:20am, the place is filled, literally, to building capacity according to fire code, and people are being made to wait outside. Woman working front desk, to security: "Is anyone back there yet?" (Referring to employees processing applications.) Security: "Bill just walked in." Woman: "Just Bill?" Security: "Yeah, everyone else isn't coming in until later." 100 customers in waiting room, one outside, and ONE PERSON TO PROCESS ALL OF THEM! Thanks Greg Abbott. -----EDIT---- 12:40pm, we're still waiting. Told it will be another hour at least. This is unacceptable.

  My daughter failed her first permit test and was devastated. We set up an appointment for her to have it orally administered, similar to her tests at school, and she passed the test this morning. The test administrator and others in the office expressed their excitement about her passing. An office that is likely dull and dry were smiling and congratulating her on passing. It was a joyful start to her day and ours. thank you!

  I decided to try this place instead of the one in Hurst just to see if it was better...nope! If you are willing to wait longer so that you can have someone chat it up with you, a passing police officer or another employee about travel, where to get bifocals, etc...this is the place for you!!! The people in hurst are friendly enough and get you in and out super quick! At both places we had online check-in. Hurst with online check-in took 20 minutes (getting permit for my son). This place with online check-in, we are going on an hour now. 20 min of listening to this lady y’all to the people in her chair about traveling to Tennessee, how they like Texas, what school the daughter goes to... still waiting... less conversions more doing our jobs please!

  Very dramatic and annoying guy (manager) who made a habit of yelling at everyone in the lobby “IF YOU DONT ALL HAVE A SEAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT IS GONNA HAVE A FIT AND THROW YOU OUT” and other nonsense like “ANYONE WHO TOUCHES THE BLUE SCREEN WILL BE FINED $20” or blasting out silly stuff like “ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK!!” to elderly people who had been sitting there for 4 hours and probably just needed a cracker. The lady who helped me was nice enough but despite my organization of all necessary paperwork took over 25 minutes for a new license—very slow typist and would stop typing to chat along the way.

  Best DPS I've been to! They counter guy was a little on edge, but ya gotta remember how many stupid people he has to deal with (probably the 1 star people), but he answered all my questions nicely and told me how to get what I needed. The waiting area was a little small yes, but that's not their fault. That's the specs of the building they got. The attendant I had today was a lot nicer than I expected her to be and helped other attendants while still blowing through my stuff. Was there for a minute, but it's the DPS..... what do ya expect?
