TCF bank is great! My experience was so good in writing about it. This is a down home good ol bank. With modern options and free checking options. TCF bank has quite a few locations popping up around the valley and with big banks like Bank of America - Chase and Wells Fargo charging us all for our own money. Local banks like TCF are needed and they even offer a small business account that builds interest. Nationwide ATM access and a debit card printed on the spot help make TCF convenient and there open 6 days a week with 24 hour banking access to your account online. Only closed 4 major holidays and Sundays. TCF bank is great for a penny puncher like me. Stop in and see for yourself how easy and convenient a TCF bank account is to open. Only takes about 35 min and $25 and you're done. They also offer credit card readers and savings accounts for kids and students. Pre-paid cards for online shopping and a complimentary notary service and change counter just like coin star but without the fees. Check'em out.

TCF bank is one of the best banks in the US. Their staff are both professional and fair. They will not put up with snotty behavior from entitled brats. They're always willing to help and their phone service is incredibly efficient. They work at a slower pace but they're incredibly effective at their job.

TCF is a smaller bank which is why I joined. Less "corporate" feel. They're open 7 days a week - got $100 when I joined (sadly no promos right now). They used to be open until 7pm which was also huge for me - they close at 6pm now =( Cons for TCF as a Co.: Lack of branches (tho expected with a smaller bank) but they really need to put in at least SOME ATMs outside of their branches. Scottsdale has NO TCF access. Or at least reimburse a certain number of ATM fees per month due to low # of branches (even 1 or 2 would be appreciated). I have had GREAT customer service from my Mesa and Gilbert branches, Tempe Marketplace not so much. I went in 2 days in a row on my lunch (approx 1pm) and there were only 2 employees working. Today I stood, first in line, for 10 min and not one employee even acknowlaged I was there or said "sorry for wait - one moment". I had to walk up and ask how much longer it would take because both teller and the lady at the desk were handling issues that took about 20 min - all I had to do was make a deposit. I was told "about 10 min" and the lady didn't even look at me when she said it! I didn't see any employee smile either day I was there, let alone provide any customer service. Stick with Gilbert branch if possible. Only other issue: I've overdrafted once in 4 years during a hard time. I paid more in 2 overdraft fees ($37 PER TRANSACTION!) then the amount I had to "barrow" from the bank. And most banks waive those fees all of the time for good customers who don't make it a habit. Im going to find out if fhey can do that for me. Couldn't ask today because I couldn't wait 30 min to deposit one check. If they don't waive even one, I will find another bank. If they work with me, ill stay with them for another 4 years and recommend them to all East Valley Residence who read this! I like the personal attention I've gotten from my Gilbert / Mesa branches. Tellers will even call me personally when I put a check in the overnight drop box and they deposit it the next morning! How cool is that?! TCF: Lower overdraft fees, comp a # ATM fees per month or get more ATMs and you will do well! Sincerely, your hopfully long time customer!
