I had my son there in 2012 and had a very mixed experience. I arrived in active labor, and went right into an L&D room. The first nurse was completely unhelpful and did pretty much nothing but data entry. She even asked me the date of my last period in the middle of a contraction. Not helpful. The second nurse was WAY better and probably saved me from having a C-section. She was so patient and had very helpful suggestions for boosting my body's own levels of oxytocin to get my contractions to pick up naturally. The OB was completely disrespectful and I felt like I was on her timeline. She had nothing helpful to suggest and when I declined pitocin threatened me and told me I had an hour to get to 10cm or she was giving it to me regardless. Then after I delivered my son vaginally, she swept my uterus in an incredibly painful and unnecessary procedure that I felt was punitive for my resistance to pitocin (not to mention introducing risk of infection). Postpartum care was totally disruptive and the LC support was not helpful. I left there with severe breast pain and a tongue-tied infant and no support, not even a check up call. It took 10 weeks to get it diagnosed and resolved. I just generally felt like Swedish was a bit of a baby factory and they're mostly interested in just getting the baby out as fast as possible so they can free up the bed. I elected to go to UW for the birth of my daughter in 2016 and it was like night and day. UW was WAY better and I had a wonderful natural birth, saw two LCs and received multiple postpartum calls. The contrast was dramatic. I recently had a friend go to Swedish for her first birth and had a similar experience. I honestly don't know why anyone who wants a natural birth would go to Swedish... it's the least supportive place I've experienced both personally and through multiple friends.
