  I love my hair! Thanks to Suzy that did my balayge, I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she was very understanding. She did exaclty what i asked for. I got so many compliments and people asking me what salon i got my hair done and that whoever did my hair did an amazing job. I also loved that I was able to sit and have a coversation with her rather than sit there while somone does my hair in complete silence. All the staff is super friendly. The place is so aesthetically pleasing and I'm overall satisfied with the service i recieved. Good job guys, keep it up!

  Great place. Professional and friendly staff, nice interior. Got great haircut and styling for reasonable price (and finally no additional fees for long hair -which never made sense to me before). Also they are not aggressively pushing for tips like some other places. I am glad to leave additional monetary gratitude if I liked the service, but really hate when vendor puts obligation to leave certain percentage on the top of original bill , regardless of customer satisfaction level ( or they will treat you as person non grata and look at you as if you are public enemy)

  It takes me years to find a good hair stylist. I have very long, thick and curly hair, and I really only cut it 2 or 3 times a year. I'd finally found someone I loved in the city, but when I moved to Rutherford I had to start all over. I tried one place in a town nearby based on reviews and the cut was ... fine, but just fine. For my next cut I wanted to try somewhere else and so glad I stumbled on these reviews! They are accommodating, easy to schedule with, and do a great job. I scheduled with Brooke based on reviews, and Brooke did great. She took the time to get the cut right, knew exactly what I wanted and what my hair needed, and it was an overall pleasant experience. But I could also tell that all of the stylists there do a good job with their clients. I hope to go back to Brooke for my next cut, but if she's not available I'd be happy going to anyone there.

  I've been going to Substance Salon for over 9 years and seen them grow not only with talent but also as a great business. They are very personable and their customer service is amazing. Since then I've moved outside of NJ to NYC and people call me crazy for traveling 2 hours twice a month to get an extra dose of sexiness!
