::Great park, it has a lot of space and alot playgrounds spread around. Though I wish there were less druggies. My cousin found a bloodoed knife there once. Not a pleasant thought.

::St. Mary's is a wonderful inner-city escape to rolling hills, expanses of green grass, and beautiful huge old trees. In the winter the hills are perfect for short and safe sledding. This park is across the street from the building that I used to live in until I was 8yrs old. There is a hill with a tall rock on its Western face that was perfect for climbing while the hill on the other side was great for rolling down and running around. I went back to the park after 51 years, for my 59th birthday. I found my climbing rock and the corner where my building used to be. It was an amazing feeling to find and revisit all of these places, and I am very happy that I made the effort to go back and look around. Sadly after 51 years it is not completely the same place that I remembered. When I climbed the rock as a child the only fear (my fathers' not mine) was that I would fall and get hurt. When I climbed the rock now every nook and cranny was filled with broken glass, garbage and drug paraphernalia to the point where I was concerned about having to hold on to anything as I climbed. But it was still an incredible experience to climb 'my rock' again, and walk through the old neighborhood.

::Park is nice but it needs to be cleaned up and maintained. Money should be spent on a new playground. Jackson avenue side, the playground is broken. Been that way since last summer. Hasnt even been fixed or removed to avoid injury. I had to remove a small child yesterday because he almost got his hand cut off. Also, behind the projects coming from 149th, there are many caps from hypodermic needles and broken needles around in plain sight or hidden. Very dangerous for children and animals. This is not a predominantly white neighborhood so i know this review wont make it anywhere or just fall on deaf ears ( blind eyes in this case). A lot of people come here to work out and play sports but everything is losing functionality.

::I've lived by this park all my life and honestly as a resident it could be better. The Bronx deserves better. There are playgrounds for children to play. And there is a dog run near the baseball field. There is a recreation center and a track field that has some equipment to use for working out. Overall the quality of the park is okay. It can be dangerous in this area so there is a curfew at night. Even in the daytime it is possible to be robbed or jumped. In the summer it's bad because everyone litters when they have their BBQs. I wish there was something more to encourage people to respect the places we do have.

::I go to the rec center here and I love it! I love that it's easy to get to and that they offer workout classes day & evening. Best part is having indoor pool access with flippers (if you have kid sized feet like me 🤭), paddle boards, noodles, and weights. The facilities are well-kept, especially for a public place, and shower water is warm!! The price for an any-rec-center membership is $75/6 mos, and there's money off if you have the NYCID; can't beat being able to go to any rec center in the city and having access to all of those classes!
