  I am a colleague of Jen Vanella. I taught voice and piano lessons in the Pittsburgh area for a little over six years before moving to New York City. Jen is currently my top recommendation for any students located in the city of Pittsburgh. I know her to big a kind and generous spirit. She takes the art of teaching very seriously, and makes it a point to differentiate her lessons to suit the unique needs of each student. I find her to be a colleague that is generous with her knowledge and praise. She is sure to promote healthy, balanced music making in all she encounters. I highly recommend her services!

  I've worked with Jen for five years. She creates a safe, friendly, and professional atmosphere. Through countless projects and performances she's organized, it's easy to see how hard she works for her students, even on her own time. She has tremendous insight and experience in the music world that she is eager to share. I travel well over an hour for my lessons and it is absolutely worth it.   I came to Jen for vocal coaching once I decided to pursue musical theatre again. She has helped me become a more confident and healthier singer, helping me through auditions. She was even able to help me with my acting for my monologue! Jen really knows what she is talking about, and as a teacher myself, I truly appreciate her methods. She is very flexible and understanding when it comes to scheduling. I'm so glad I found her as a vocal coach!

  Jen is an excellent voice teacher and a dear mentor who is generous and inspiring. Knowing how to sing well is one thing, but knowing how to teach others in a way that suits each of them best is definitely another, and the latter needs not only profession but also care for students. Jen is exactly such a teacher that does both excellently. It has been my great pleasure to have classes with her and I will continue to do so!
