Did a glass blowing class here and loved it ... They were able to accommodate me last minute. Knowledgeable and friendly instructor. Great works to browse as well!

I hated my experience here. I was so excited to come here because when we came to Seattle in 2013 we saw this and didn't have enough time for our projects to cool so we had to skip it. I have been thinking about it ever since. I've always LOVED to watch glass blowing and was so excited to get to try my hand at something I have watched so much. The guide: From the moment I walked in the guide was not welcoming, he was not mean but treated me like I was a bother. I tipped $10 at the end just because I felt I had to because of his tip jar strategically set to be right next to me the whole time. The activity: very disappointing you don't actually get to work on the project you just stand near them and they let you touch the stick while they do all the work. Then finally you get to spin, but that's it. After the spinning all you get to do it sit and blow until he's done shaping. Maybe the $350 3 hr class is better but when I talked to them on the phone they said this class would give me what i want; some hands on crafting. However I don't think he let go of the pole for more than 30secs. It was terrible and felt rushed. The product: ugly! I admit I know nothing about glass so I left it to my expert guide. I told him I wanted something bright with lots of colors specifically turquoise, yellow, orange maybe pink or purple if we can. I even pointed to examples. He showed me the mixes said the ones he picked would get me that result. He said the base would be a blue green with a little purple swirl and specks of yellow and orange. Well, the result is a disgusting dark and dreary bowl. Its almost black. Also, this bowl is about 2/3 or half the size of the one I was shown I would make. I'm so upset that I was misled about the experience and the size and color of the $100 bowl. I literally hated this place and it puts a huge dark cloud on my Seattle experience. I'm devastated because I've been dreaming about doing this for years and in the end I over paid for a hideous bowl And a bad experience. The guy who handed me the bowl said it turned out great I was speechless I wanted to cry because the anticipation of getting a beautiful bowl was the only thing salvaging the disappointing activity.

If you have ever wanted to try Glassblowing this the place. They are friendly, helpful and very talented. Ask for Tye if you are taking a class. He made the experience so much fun for us. He made us laugh and taught us so much. Not to mention we made some pretty fabulous pieces to take homes

I was hesitant to visit Seattle Glassblowing because I never had an interest in glassblowing. My fiancé told me that I would have a great time. After creating a glass bowl, I can't wait to create another piece. This place is hot! Wear a long sleeve shirt, jeans, and closed toe shoes or boots. The clothes are to protect from the direct heat, not from the red-hot glass. Bring a bottle of water, thick gloves, and a camera. The direct heat will really make your hands hot, so wearing gloves is a really good idea. If you make a glass bowl you will blow air inside the glass and suck some of the air out at the end. My advice on the blowing and sucking, go slow or you may cause the glass to crack when water is applied. Don't forget to tip your glassblowing instructor when your class is done.
