Cheap, quick, and simple yet scenic ride from Westlake Station to Seattle Center. It's a short 2 minute ride from the Westlake Station to the Space Needle area. $5 for same day RT, or $2.50 one way. Cash Only! Personally we found it super convenient when getting to and from the Westlake Station especially with our luggage. If you're coming from Westlake, take the elevator up to reach monorail station. Ticket attendants were polite and answered any questions.

The highlight of the Seattle Center trip for my 6 year old. If it gets you where you're going it's definitely better than walking or a bus. And if you have a kindergartner it's a must do event in itself.

The Seattle Monorail is very cool, which is kind of odd because it is also an antique transportation system dating back to the 1960s when it was built for the World's Fair, Elvis had it in one of his movies. But never mind all that, when you stand on the platform waiting for it, you will be as excited as the first people to ever ride it. For me where it goes does not really matter, it is the ride itself that makes this a very cool experience.

The monorail was super useful if you didn't have a car, and wanted to save the 25 min walk between downtown and Seattle Center. At $5 return it was so useful for going from our hotel over to MoPOP and the Space Needle while we were visiting. It's reasonably regular, about every 10 mins or so, just a bit old and rickety. In terms of convenience it was great for us.
