I don't know that I have ever written a review when I have had a bad experience. Mostly because I know how it can affect a business, and being a small business owner, I am always careful. Unfortunately, the experience at Salishan doesn't even deserve one star. From booking the actual reservation to check out, our entire experience was disappointing, shocking, and frustrating. It took 5 phone calls to even reserve a room. Some 3rd party is reserving the rooms and after 3 times of being hung up one and 2 times of repeating my requests to book a room failed, I finally was able to get a person at the actual resort. She apologized and upgraded us. I thought, that's nice. How annoying it took that much, but she made it right...so I thought. We arrived (it was our wedding anniversary) and the room was filthy, lights were broken, the room was dark, there was ZERO privacy - people could see right into our room. This was particularly frustrating as I requested that the room be private. We ordered room service...and let's just say I've had better meals at a dive bar. The "flatbread" came in a pizza box, we received no utensils, the food was just bad, and ridiculously overpriced. I could go on and on, but the point, is that for over $700 this "resort" has less to offer than the average Holiday Inn. A few weeks after our stay (after feeling frustrated that our special weekend turned out so poorly) I emailed the manager and she was very apologetic and offered to give our money back. Again, I thought, that's really nice and I appreciated it. Except that when the follow through actually came in, she disappeared. It took 5 phone calls, 3 emails and nothing. Then the General Manager got involved. He was not only rude, but condescending. In addition, my mother had purchased a gift card for us as a Christmas present (that we were saving for our anniversary) and although they admitted that our stay should have been better and they were refunding us, he refused to reimburse my mom. I was told in writing that we would both be reimbursed, and then we go the runaround...yet again. My mom then had to get involved and the General Manager agreed with her and agreed to reimburse her, except when she attempted to call accounting 5 different times, the general manager denied saying anything. The whole thing is a joke. Just reimburse it and call it a day. I don't get it. We aren't rich, we just wanted a nice weekend together and it sucked. We don't go around looking to create a situation or be difficult. They could have taken responsibility, but instead they avoided the situation, lied, had little respect, and in general behaved poorly. I can forgive a bad hotel, but the way it was handled is completely disturbing and unprofessional.

The hotel was very nice. Very beautiful for a romantic get away. I was disappointed to find out that they didn't have AIR CONDITIONING in the rooms and it was very warm when we were trying to rest at night. We could open our screen door to get a breeze from the patio but that also let in the noise from the highway. Since it is not normally extremely hot in the area, I would still recommend it but not during the hot summer months.
