Safeway seems to be managed by DMV now. Also their prices are comparable to Macy's. Almost no reason to shop there anymore since they aren't even open 24 hours anymore.

Incredible, I was just at the supermarket it was around nine at night obviously they didn’t have enough cashiers the line for the one available cashier went all along the front to the other side of the building obviously poor management.

The staff at Safeway are friendly. The shelves are usually pretty well stocked but sometimes they run out of really basic things. I have no idea how it's possible, but it happens often enough. Also, the lines can get very long at times, which discourages me from shopping there. There's much cheaper groceries at New May Wah, on Clement. But it's close, and it usually has most of what I need, so I shop there pretty often.

The staff is so nice, and they do their best during the after-school rush. The bathroom is upstairs, through the door next to the meat department, and there's an elevator through the double doors. The deli, produce, and flower departments are good, but there's no in-house bakery.

Look, it's just a Safeway, and the lines are usually long here. But as "Safeways" go, this is a good one. Lots of college kids, away from home for the first time, are here buying food with their roommates. International tourists, visiting the nearby attractions at Golden Gate Park, come here to buy some good sandwiches and salads, instead of the museum food. And locals get their day-to-day grocery shopping basics here.
