We needed a place for a last meal on our way home from fisherman's wharf, and couldnt find a better place. Chocolates, gin, ribs, sourdough and goat cheese was cheap and delicious! Even found a cheesecake for dessert! While I would be annoyed if I actually had to shop there for my weekly groceries at he, it was just what we needed, and the staff was super friendly to boot!

Staff is rude and dismissive when confronted with questions or any problems with the product they sell. Bought pre-packaged ground chicken that I brought home to cook and immediately realized something was swing with it. Bits of the plastic packaging was mixed into the ground meat. I called the manufacturer just to find out both the phone numbers listed on their website are fake.. decided to call Safeway to warn them about my experience and I was hung up on with no questions asked. Called back and was connected to a monotone sounding man who didn’t ask me the brand, purchase or what happened but just wanted me to get off the phone. Did not even suggest a refund.

Let's face it, for those not from San Francisco, New York City, or other places with similar costs of living, things in the city are a bit pricey. This Safeway is also pricey, however it's better than some alternatives. If you're walking around the city and want to grab water and some stuff for a snack, this is a convenient place to go. It's not far from some of the big attractions in the city.

This grocery store was a blessing during my visit to SF. First of all, clean bathrooms. Second, safe and secure parking. Third, short walk to the Pier meant I got to kill two birds with one stone when I parked, shopped, and walked here. It was great to be able to duck in and get my groceries after a brisk stroll along the pier!

Not the largest Safeway, but it has most everything you would expect at a chain supermarket. If you're in a hurry, the self-checkouts usually move quickly. Don't forget to get validation for free 90 minutes parking; it's $12 an hour without validation! One of the leaders, Elaine, was very helpful in getting what I needed.
