  Hey all, its John Thunderburd here. I had the greatest time visiting this monument. I'm happy to say that it has become a Class A national landmark- which means it is now on the same level as Mount Rushmore. But after seeing the Rock which is painted red, Mount Rushmore is underwhelming. They call it the spirit rock because once you look at it, it is impossible not to be filled with pride of a school that isn't really that impressive. I do have some tips for visiting it. You will want to spend 4-5 hours here. Some people say you can do the Metropolitan Museum of Art in about 2 hours, but if you try to do this rock in 2 hours, you will anger the gods of St. John's, and you will insult every student who has walked the halls of this prestigious institution. Fun fact, the reason the rock is red is because of the blood of students who were sacrificed to the Aztec god Quetzecoutal. . So yes our school rules because we have a rock painted red. Go johnnies!

  Drove 33 hours straight from Logan, Utah to see this stupendous monument at the wonderful St. John's university. Other than this there were some other things that I saw in NYC like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, etc. that were a let down after my visit to the Red Rock, but this glimmering red-painted rock was probably one of the most memorable experiences for me of the entire east coast.
