  Went in on a Saturday morning and it was so relaxed, the rush started coming in a bit more past 10 am but still not crazy busy! The coffee was five stars. The food was five stars. If you haven’t had a caffeinated kitchen donut , you need to! The staff was kind as well which I always appreciate. Good place to try!

  Great coffee and awesome staff! I really enjoy their espresso shake and vegan donuts. They're in Downtown Long Beach on the other side of the promenade.

  Great atmosphere, great music, and a proper appreciation for delectable coffee. A bit pricey for the average college budget, but the value spent is tasted in the quality of their coffee and their appreciation for it. Went to buy a coffee, and because it wasn't freshly made it was given to me for free! Thanks sweet recreational coffee working lady.

  This is a relatively new shop that is in the space where Nix Check Cashing used to be. The building is older style architecture and is right across the street from The old Acres of Books building. It is also 2 doors down from a wonderful classic building from the 1920's, the golden era of Long Beach. They have delicious items on the menu for breakfast and lunch and they also have Vegan donuts if you just want a snack with your coffee. They also have pour-over rigs for making individual servings of coffee. MDK

  All of the employees were so friendly! They greeted everyone with a warm welcome with a smile! The coffee was amazing. I ordered the seasonal gingerbread latte. It comes with the little cookie, so cute! Recreational is the perfect coffee shop to study at.
