    Beautiful location great green space and grilling area when you drive up the stairwell gives you the vibe that this is not going to be great, but the rooms are decent, you’re going to the beach and you’re going to stay in that area you’re not gonna be in the room long it is way better than a motel six. I would recommend them changing out the fridge if it looks rusty on the outside, but was clean on the inside, extremely clean. And the AC could be a little cooler but again will stay there again just because it is perfect as far as the swimming pool and the beach side highly recommend it.

    1) Upon arrival they charged an early check in fee. I understand that room cleaning is essential and sometimes you're just not ready for an early check in. But the desk clerk admitted that the room was ready. Okay no big deal although it sent the red flag that these people are out for the dollar and not to gain returning customers...I agreed to the additional room charge. 2) I happen to be a government employee and I asked about the government/military discount. I was told "You should have asked for it when making your reservation." Then only to further explain that they couldn't add the discount in the system. Blaming their parent company for not giving them access. 3) They asked if I had a pet. I affirmed. Then rudely (and I agree that's subjective) the clerk tells me there's an additional charge for the pet. I didn't remember that in researching on the reservation. But hey...there's additional costs in hosting pets because some owners are not responsible. I agreed to the pet charge. 4) I receive my room key. No directions to the room were given. I had to ask. Then I went out and started to drive around to the room. The overhang was full and no one could pass either way. As I was on the road driving around the hotel to get to my room, I did see the desk clerk come out to clear the lanes. 5) The room....the bathroom smelled like rotten eggs. There was paint on the on the bed. One bed was missing a mattress cover. The curtains were half hung. (easy fix to put the curtain hooks in the slide) The picture over one of the beds was over the simulated bed headboard ready to fall off on anyone laying on that bed. There was mold in the ceiling corner above the curtain. It did look like someone did try to clean it. 6) A friend of mine was staying there as well and they went a day early. When they tried to add a day....the front desk told them they would have to cancel the first day (without refund) and make a new reservation for two days. In other words, as the client was trying to bring this hotel more business, they wanted to charge him for three days instead of two. I will let their review speak for itself as they had a nightmare of a stay as well. 7) In fact, I didn't even stay. Between the horrible front desk service and the condition of the room we didn't even stay. My friends didn't stay their second night. 8) It's amazing that this hotel has an "early check-in fee" and and "early check out fee" on the same day on my receipt. 8) To make sure I am fair, as I was asking for the receipt (I didn't trust them for an emailed receipt-still don't have an email), there was a lady there trying to be concerned for the situation. The other desk clerk was not allowing her to show any concern. It probably would've helped to have communication there rather than here. I've been associated with the Hospitality industry for over 17 years. I wasn't expecting the best....but if you don't have the amenities to offer as other hotels do, your best pay off for no cost is providing great customer service. The only glimmer of hope was snuffed out. Three stars for the location to Texas State Aquarium and Blackbeard's restaurant. Both are amazing!

    Stayed for spring break. The hotel is dated. The rooms need some TLC but when we were there, they were updating a portion of the hotel. So not going to hold that against them. The service was great. If they would fix the hot tube, put restrooms for the pool area and add another shower to rinse off from the beach, it would be 5 stars. Location is great. Great for the value also.

    This is a very BUDGET hotel. The price was kinda high for my liking but I understand it is spring break week. The cleaning staff, do need to do better. The small fridge had from what I could tell butter chunks all over the bottom and sides on the inside. We found a cup of noodles that had probably been cook by the previous guests still sitting in the microwave. When we checked in to our two rooms, one of the beds was covered by a pile of dirty blankets and sheets. The sink was clogged with sand. The staff did fix all the issues rather quickly, so have to give them the credit for that. over all it's not a bad hotel just needs work. The location, you really can't beat it in comparison to the other locations around. The breakfast is great as well. We will definitely come back again though. It's hard to beat the spot for everything that you get for the price.

    They did not notify me that they were turning off the water to the hotel which is a Health Code Violation and my daughter had shampoo in her hair and eye. They were rude when I told them since I asked for late check out front desk Linda said you should of showered earlier. That's not a way to talk to guests. Archie General Manager complained when I asked if I can stay till water is back on so I can shower. She finally agreed to let me stay only till 2pm after that I had to Leave. While we waited we could not use the restroom or wash our hands I had two little girls with me. I couldn't let them stay any longer in these conditions. So the waffle bucket she gave me to wash my daughters hair out I used to bathe myself if cold water. At the end we tried checking out before 2pm and I asked for a refund or partial refund and she said no since I was leaving before 2pm. This is RIDICULOUS...This is a very run down hotel. They should not have the Quality Inn by Choice name. Room smelled of mold electrical wires hanging from the ceiling. Paint coming off walls bad patch up work. The only workers who were nice were the 2 men and lady from House Keeping. General Manager Archie and Linda Front Desk were Rude. No good customer service. I made q complaint to Choice hotel waiting on outcome. At the end no apologies were given just a cold shoulder.
